II. Shopping

Shopping in Provence is nothing short of wonderful. The shopping experience here is among the best in the world. Antiques abound, and cutting edge fashion can be found for all budgets. Regional artisan products, be they for the home, jewelry & accessories, housewares, or the world-famous delicacies are yours for the having, and all found in delightful boutiques of the storybook villages and beautiful quarters of Provence's larger cities. Or perhaps you prefer to head for the countryside and visit the artisans in their habitat.

Whether your tastes run towards the high-end boutiques, the marvelous outdoor markets of the villages, or bargain shopping*, we have a large network of merchants and markets to share with you.
And for the budget-minded, the shopping day trip can pay for itself. We can help you find better quality at lower prices, and in a delightful places you likely would never find on your own.

If you happen to be in the area in January/February or June/July, you can take part in Les Soldes. Twice a year France has a national sale, called Les Soldes, in which all stores participate, to make room for the new season's items. Be part of the frenzy! In 2007 the official start dates are January 11 for the winter sale and June 27 for the summer sale. The sales last several weeks, for the best selection, best to shop in the beginning, and for the highest discounts, you will find them nearer the close of Les Soldes.

Of course, intense shopping can also take a lot of energy. To assure the day stays in the spirit of a vacation, a charming lunch and restful tea in the afternoon are included in the itinerary. And to really de-stress - we can arrange for a massage at the end of the day, either in your hotel room, or at a local spa.

III. Meet the Winemakers

There is no better teacher: let the rolling vineyards of Provence be your classroom, and the winemakers your teachers as we take the wine road through the Rhone Valley and beyond.
You will visit the world famous wine villages of Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and/or Bandol and bring home with you lifelong memories of personal encounters with the celebrated winemakers of the area. When it is time to leave France you will have a true understanding of Rhone wines, probably love rose wines, have fun wine pairing, and know how to find value when selecting a wine.

Learn hands-on, the a-z's of winemaking by exploring famous vineyards on foot, visiting the cellars and barrel rooms, and learning the art of wine appreciation with the men who produce.
Included are vineyard walks, lunch in a wine village, winery visits and winetastings in the region of Provence of your choice.
