- Special Lectures and Discussion with Marta Turok - Guided Visit with Marta to the Frida Kahlo Museum - Guided Visits to see the Murals at the Palace of Fine arts and the Frida Kahlo Exhibit - Day Excursion to Puebla and Cholula - Eat at some of Mexico's favorite restaurants - Total Immersion in the Historic District Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Mexico City. Welcome reception and dinner with Anthropologist, Marta Turok. Marta discusses the recent findings at Casa Azul, the identification process and their importance to Frida’s legacy and Mexico’s patrimony. Day 2: Visit charming San Angel and its famed Bazaar Sabado arts and crafts market. Relax at San Angel Inn for lunch, visit the Frida and Diego Studios and Anahuacalli Museum. Day 3: Stroll in Sullivan Park, Mexico’s Montmartre. Tour through the Historic District, view the Dream of Sunday Afternoon in Alameda painting by Diego Rivera, shop at Fonart for the finest selection of regional craft from Mexico. Visit the famed House of Tiles and dine at popular Café Tacuba. Day 4: Full day excursion to Puebla and Cholula to see the traditional talavera pottery, indigenous churches and ancient pyramid sites. Day 5: Breakfast with Marta Turok. Frida and the Revival of Indigenous Dress. Special visit to Museo Frida Kahlo to view the recently uncovered wardrobe of Frida’s, where over 300 personal items were recovered. Guided visit of the Museo Dolores Olmedo and to Xochimilco’s chinampa floating gardens. Returning home we view the spectacular O’Gorman mosaics at UNAM. Day 6: Guided tour of the Rivera, Orozco, Siqueiros murals in the Palace of Fine Arts. After the lunch will be a guided tour of the Frida Kahlo Special Exhibit, Ballet Folklorico in the evening. Day 7: Guided tour of Museo Nacional de Antropologia, with special emphasis on the Ethnographic section. Lunch at museum café. Then have a guided tour of Lomas residential area, Museum of Modern Art.
