Buenos Aires is the first stop on this 28-day tour of Argentina and Chile and we spend a few days touring the many attractions of the city known as "The Paris of South America". Centering our focus on the Plaza de Mayo, we visit fascinating historic buildings and monuments, like the tombs of "Evita" Peron and liberator Jose de San Martin, the presidential palace, and the national congress building. Spectacular scenery awaits us as we near Patagonia and spend some time on the banks of Lake Argentino.
Via Buenos Aires, we head for Santiago, the wondrous capital city of Chile, thereby ending the Argentina leg of the tour. The next 14 days are spent in Chile: we travel through the Chilean Central Valley, visiting wineries along the way; we tour the regions at the foothills of the Andes; we stop in at perhaps the most beautiful area in South America, Torres del Paine National Park and undertake a variety of activity, such as rafting, horseback riding, or hiking; and we cruise through the icy waters of the Chilean fjords.
