A land of glacier-coated mountains, arid plains and thick rainforest, Kenya lays claim to a spectrum of diversity that few countries can rival. Indeed, Kenya’s natural environment earns worldwide acclaim both for its exceptional beauty and its profusion of exotic wildlife and our nine-day adventure through this remarkable East African country showcases the reasons why. Via the ‘White Highlands’ - so named due to the large numbers of Europeans who settled there - we travel past the slopes of the continent’s highest mountain (Mount Kenya) and on to Samburu National Reserve, where we have the chance to see buffalo, cheetahs, leopards and lions and are guaranteed close-up sightings of elephants, giraffes and gazelle. Mount Kenya Conservation Area and Maasai Mara National Reserve number among the country’s, and indeed the world’s, most famous safari areas and here we catch glimpses of yet more animals that can be seen elsewhere only in zoos.
