Istanbul is the only city in the world that is spread over two continents and as we traverse the Bosphorus suspension bridge, we cross from Asia to Europe. This gives life to Turkey’s timeless description as the “Crossroad of Civilizations”. Witness the remains of spectacular empires as we see the 24, 000-seat Roman amphitheater in Ephesus or the Topkapi Palace of the Ottoman sultans in Istanbul. The vast array of museums throughout the country does not fall short in maintaining curiosity.
While in the capital of Ankara, we see the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, one of the world’s greatest displays of ancient empires, from the Hittites to the Assyrians. A visit to the site where the legendary city of Troy once stood is yet another chance to immerse ourselves into the stories of myth and legend that we learned about in history and fantasy books.
