Being accompanied by your own exceptional guide will make the difference between a good safari and the safari that creates life-long memories.

Safari:

The word ‘safari’ comes from the Arab word safara which literally translated means a place’ or a journey to a place. In English it has come to mean a wildlife hunt or wildlife-viewing holiday. We believe that the original meaning is a more accurate description for a Steve Bolnick Safari and use the word to mean ‘a journey’, but a journey of discovery, a discovery of a fascinating continent with thrilling wildlife, extreme beauty and many cultures as well as a journey of discovery of yourself - your origins, passions and instincts.

Walking:

While we customise every tour to suit each of our guests, we highly recommend at least one walk on every experience, be it a big game safari in Zimbabwe or Botswana or a wine tasting tour in South Africa’s Cape Province.

On a game safari there is no better way to experience the bush than by walking. Being on foot in big game country has an incomparable primal appeal. It breaks down the barriers that we have imposed between our environment and ourselves. It allows you to experience and understand the intensity of the bush in a very immediate way. Walking in the bush awakens your senses and rather than being a passive voyeur you start to smell, taste, feel and experience the bush. It is only on foot that you can really begin to appreciate the complexity of the ecological web of life.

Walking allows you to slow down to a more complementary pace and to appreciate the smaller and subtler features such as insects, plants and tracks, which are such vital ingredients in the ecology. Of course walking is also a healthy way to relax.

Cape Town:

Cape Town is surely the most beautifully situated city in the world, with Table Mountain towering above it and ‘the mountains in the sea’ stretching to the Cape of Good Hope. This is the vibrant heart of South Africa’s Rainbow Nation, steeped in history and culture. Walking through the streets of this city is like walking through the pages of its past. Ecologically unique, it is situated in the midst of the Cape Floral Kingdom, with greater biodiversity within the city limits than exists in most countries. During the season, the annual migration of Southern Right Whales makes this the best place in the world for land-based whale viewing. The Cape Winelands produce world-class wines in the most magnificent mountain setting and Cape Town is the logical starting point for forays to witness the West Coast flowers, the Garden Route and the malaria-free Eastern Cape wildlife parks. This is superb walking country and Steve Bolnick has designed, launched and guides the classic 5-day accommodated ‘mountains in the sea’ walk from Table Mountain to The Cape of Good Hope. Whether by vehicle or on foot, your visit to the Cape with Steve Bolnick Safaris will be immeasurably enhanced. We will help you design your personal vacation and will ensure your visit is filled with enjoyment, experience and indulgence.
