This unique flight-seeing ride takes you to see Ambergris Caye from the air as few people have seen it. After leaving the heliport, you will fly over San Pedro and be amazed by the beautiful views. Enjoy a bird's-eye view of the town!!!
Ambergris Caye is the largest and most northern of Belize's islands. It is twenty five miles long and parallels Belize's barrier reef. The ride takes off from San Pedro as it heads north over Ambergris Caye. You will fly along the Reef which is the longest and largest mass of continuous living coral in this hemisphere, second in the world stretching for more than 179 miles. Dazzle your eyes as you pass over the roars and whistling of the waves that smash against the reef. Throughout your flight, look closely at the clear waters as you might see a dolphin, sting ray or shark in the waters.
You will fly along the Reef via Tres Cocos, Punta Arena, Mata Rocks, Mexico Rocks, Palmero Point, Punta Azul, Basil Jones, Robles Point and finally Rocky Point. Your eyes will marvel when you see one of the most colorful lagoons there is to see. Imagine seeing all different shades of blue the most common colors of the sea, however, this lagoon has all shades of red it’s the southern section of Laguna Cantena.
At the north end of the Caye, you will be able to view a little of Mexico as Ambergris is separated from Mexico only by a narrow channel, Bacalar Chico. Making a turn and heading now south of Ambergris, you will be able to see all the center of the island including many of the inner lagoons, Santa Cruz Lagoon, Laguna de Cayo Frances, Laguna de Mato and San Pedro Lagoon.
You will then head back to San Pedro, which is a mile or so long and encompasses only a few street blocks. Most of the houses are wooden with zinc roofs. This town is the heart of Ambergris Caye offering a wide range of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and banks. You will get one last view of the Reef as you head in for San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
