Comfort barge Amsterdam to Bruges on April 17, 2010 and April 24th from Bruges/Ghent to Amsterdam. Tour price is $1,450.00 per person with double occupancy. Book now through January 10, 2010 with full payment and receive a $100.00 discount per person/double occupancy.
Later tours -after the height of the flower season are "Holland Meets Belgium" Tours with similar routing. Both comfort and standard barge accommodations are also available on these tours.
The Spring Flower Tour offers the best of two countries and has been our best selling tour for the past ten years. This route shows you many major highlights in Belgium and Holland. We include the favorites: the flower fields and the visit to the annual flower exhibition the Keukenhof. Furthermore this tour shows you some lovely Old Dutch towns like Willemstad and Gouda. Crossing the border to Belgium takes you to the Belgian pearls of Antwerp, Ghent and the best of all: Bruges!
Day by Day Itinerary
Saturday
Transfer from Amsterdam (airport) to Ghent; arrival (in Ghent) appr. 17.00 hrs. Embarkation and checking in aboard the hotel barge. In the evening there's a short guided walk or bicycle tour in the beautiful centre of Ghent.
Sunday:
In the morning you make the train ride to Bruges. After arriving a horse carriage ride and a short guided walk past the many historic monuments in the centre of Bruges is planned. Till halfway the afternoon you are free to visit Bruges. You return by train to Dendermonde. In the evening your tour leader takes you for a walk across the town centre.
Monday
Cycle ride ± 50 km. The barge leaves for Antwerp. Cyclists hit the road and enjoy the flat Flemish countryside. In Antwerp the tour leader invites you to make a short walk through the town centre. The rest of the afternoon and the evening free time in the lively Antwerp town centre.
Tuesday
In the morning we stay a bit more in Antwerp. Right across the impressive waterways of Zeeland, the barge sails to the town of Willemstad, a beautiful walled town, where the barge has already moored for the night.
Wednesday
Cycle ride ± 40 km. You sail to Moerdijk, where you will disembark. The trip leads to the world famous windmills of Kinderdijk. One of the mills will be visited by all. After the visit the cyclists head for cheese town Gouda. In the late afternoon and after dinner you have free time in Gouda.
Thursday
Cycle ride ± 25 km. Early departure for Oude Wetering. From here you pedal through the reclaimed land of the Haarlemmer Meer to flower park Keukenhof. After having seen all the blooming tulips and daffodils everyone returns to the barge.
Friday
Cycle ride ± 30 km. Cyclists depart for Amsterdam, following the river Amstel all the way to the port. After arrival you will have free time to explore Amsterdam. In the evening theres a guided city walk and you may wish to make a roundtrip by excursion boat on the famous Amsterdam canals.
Saturday
Checking out and end of tour.
