Touching down in the natural wonderland of Madagascar - a place whose diversity and abundance of flora and fauna endows it with legendary status - we begin our 25-day adventure through Madagascar and South Africa in an Eden-like paradise. We skirt pristine lands of lush rainforest, tumbling waterfalls, grasslands and rugged, eroded mountain ranges in a place where over 80 per cent of the flora and fauna can be found nowhere else on the planet, and see incredible numbers of the country’s most famous native inhabitant; the lemur.
In addition to its extraordinary natural diversity and abundance, we explore Madagascar’s man-made face, learning about its history by touring churches, marketplaces and narrow, winding streets in traditional villages and modern towns, and visiting ancient ruins that guard the secrets of a fascinating past. Heading into South Africa, we spend time in the vibrant Johannesburg, we pass through old Gold Rush towns, we see some of the continent’s most memorable sceneries, like the Blyde River Canyon and the ‘Big Five’ (along with countless other animal species) in Kruger National Park, and we experience the old and new of the country by stopping in at the homeland of the Zulu nation and the modern, bustling streets of Cape Town. As a special treat on this tour, we cross into Swaziland to see one of the last remaining Kingdoms in Africa.
