1 day - 6 hours of walking (medium)
This is a program suitable for people in good but not exceptional physical condition. It involves a 6/7 hour walk but is downhill with a small backpack with 1 1/2 lts. of water and something to eat, such as picnic lunch.
We start from Salta city in the early morning and, after two hours driving, we get to the base of the mountain road named "cuesta del obispo" where we leave the car and we take a local bus (regular Salta-Cachi). With the bus, we get to the top of the road at 3.200 Mts. above sea level after climbing 1.000 Mts. in 20 kms. of distance, where we start the trek down just at the beginning of the National Park "Los Cardónes" in the Enchanted Valley.
We will descend walking on the edge of the Torreón Hill surrounded by spectacular scenery of the mountain road at the left and valley landscapes on the right. If the weather is good, we may have a show of condors flying around us during our walk. On the way also, we also go though a small canyon with cave paintings of the Indians from the XVI century.
I made this trek with family groups including 12 years old kids and once with a 70 years old grandmother. By the way, on the next day you will discover new muscles in your body that you didn´t realize existed before the trek!
