Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Late afternoon departure from London on the high speed Eurostar train to Paris, onwards by comfortable overnight double sleeper cabin to Chur in Switzerland. Immediate connection by mountain train to St Moritz.
Day 2-3: Stay for 2 nights at the 3 star Soldanella, your home in St Moritz, situated a mile from the station, quietly and conveniently near the town centre, it is within walking distance from the Corviglia hiking and ski area. The hotel offers a Yemaya spa centre with steam bath and Sauna. Take a scenic excursion on the Bernina Express to Tirano in Italy offering breathtaking vistas from the beautiful 1st and 2nd class Panorama cars (supplement).
Day 4-5: Travel on the world famous Glacier Express, the world’s slowest express train over 291 bridges, 91 tunnels the summit at Oberalp pass is 2033 metres through spectacular mountain scenery. Seats are reserved in the new panorama cars for the best all round view, lunch can be reserved on request for approx £25 each.
This train does not operate late October to early December – alternative services on this route will be offered. Stay for 2 nights at the 3 star superior Hotel Alpenblick situated 900 metres from the station – take the electric taxis as Zermatt is a car free village. The hotel offers gourmet dining and is close to the Klein Matterhorn ski lift for ski and hiking. This hotel is closed during October and November – an alternative is offered.
Day 6: Take the 3 hour journey to Bern, capital of Switzerland. Crammed onto a steep-sided peninsula in a crook of the fast-flowing River Aare, its quiet, cobbled lanes, lined with sandstone arcaded buildings straddling the pavement, have barely changed at all in over five hundred years. Stay for 1 night at the 3 star Hotel Metropole 4 minutes walk from the station.
Day 7: Leave mid morning traveling via Basel and Paris then by high speed Eurostar train to arrive London around 9pm.
