Enjoy yoga followed by a healthy breakfast and off to see the animals of the African Savannah come to life. After a full day of driving/walking or bush safari, stretch out with yoga at sunset and a big healthy dinner, sit round the camp fire under a canopy of stars.
Wildlife safaris are a lifetime experience. Watch the migration of the wildebeest and catch the big five: lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant and rhino. Not to mention hippo, giraffe and all forms of bird and antelope. Safaris are restricting in that you stay confined in a jeep for days on end, only free to walk around your camping area. We find yoga a great complement to sitting all day and definitely aids sleep in such wild environments!

Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival, Ngare Sero lodge. We meet on day one in Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. You can arrive from 11 am onwards and lunch is already included. You can take it easy today and enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere in this beautiful lodge set in the trees with a swimming pool. Ngare Sero lodge is an environmentally friendly lodge set in a forest reserve. The lodge caters to yoga groups with homegrown fresh vegetables and fruits picked from the trees. At sunset we will end the first day with a boat tour of the Ngare Sero Lake watching the birds return to their nests.
Day 2: Relax, do yoga and canoe in Arusha National Park - Ngare Sero lodge. Wake up leisurely and enjoy a morning class on the yoga platform set on the beautiful spring fed lake of Ngare Sero Springs. The monkeys enjoy watching the yoga class and we will have a playful audience mimicking our yoga postures. After breakfast we go for our first wildlife viewing" a game drive and an afternoon canoing trip in Arusha National Park!
After a game drive in the park we will have a picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon we reach Small Momella Lake where we go for a relaxed, scenic canoing trip, following the shoreline. We will see many birds, and some wildlife along the shore, and a few hippos in the water if we are lucky. Having enjoyed the landscape and the wildlife, we go back to Ngare Sero lodge at the end of the day.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park - Tarangire safari lodge. After an early yoga class and breakfast we leave Arusha and Ngare Sero lodge behind and drive to Tarangire National Park. This is a unique park, in close proximity to Lake Manyara, and is absolutely fantastic at this time of year- you will see many elephants, and innumerous baobabs are a guarantee.
We will take a lunch box from Ngare Sero lodge and will have lunch in a beautiful pick nick spot in the park. We spend the night in a very comfortable tent with our own shower and bathroom at a place called Tarangire Safari Lodge. According to the Lonely Planet East Africa this lodge/tented camp has one of the best views in the whole of Africa, and I can guarantee you it 's true!
Day 4: Tarangire National Park game drive - Plantation lodge. After an early morning game drive we will have lunch at the lodge. After lunch we drive on to Plantation lodge (about 1,5 hour drive), a great lodge on the outside of the Ngorongoro Crater, with great service and fantastic food. The lodge has a beautiful pool as well. We will spend some hours in the afternoon relaxing, doing yoga and going for a walk in the coffee fields around the lodge.
Day 5: Ngorongoro crate, crater hike - Plantation lodge. Today we will make a game drive in the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, which is very close to Plantation lodge. We will begin the day with a yoga session before the game drive. The Ngorongoro crater is an imploded volcano and the world's largest unflooded complete caldera - the floor lies some 2,000 feet below the rim. After some hours of game driving we will have lunch on the Crater floor. After lunch we go for a hike along the rim of the crater and in the Ngorongoro highlands. The view are stunning here. We then return to Plantation lodge for the night.
Day 6: Biking and local lunch Manyara area - Lake Natron camp. After an early breakfast we leave Plantation lodge and drive to the top of the Rift Valley escarpment, next to Manyara National Park. Here we start the day with some action! We go on a 2 to 3 hour biking trip down the Great Rift Valley escarpment and in and around the village of Mto wa Mbu. This bike ride is an excellent introduction into daily life in a typical Tanzanian village, and as you bike around you visit the school, some local houses and a banana beer bar.
We finish the bike ride with a flavorful local lunch prepared for you by a lady from the village. After lunch we will continue for about 3 hours to Lake Natron, an extremely beautiful but tiring drive on a bad road. Going to this area is really 'off the beaten track' and a very special experience. We will arrive at camp and settle into our tents. Here we will enjoy a lovely fresh organic dinner with the sounds of the birds and other wildlife that inhabit the camp.
Days 7-8: Lake Natron - Ngare Sero Lodge Lake Natron camp. We will wake up early the next morning for a walk on the salt lake flats, followed by a yoga class on the lake flats along side the thousands of flamingos that nest on the lake. There are lots of things we can do in these 2 days besides yoga: we will tube gently (float in an inflatable inner tube) down the stream towards Lake Natron, will go swimming in the waterfalls that are close by in the area and we hike from one waterfall the next. We can make this as active as we like, by going as far up along the waterfalls as we feel like.
Day 9: Manyara National Park, return to Arusha - Ngare Sero lodge. We leave Lake Natron camp early in the morning and drive in the world famous Manyara National Park. We will go for a game drive in the park, the last wildlife we'll see on this safari trip! After a picnic lunch in the park we drive back to Ngare Sero lodge near Arusha, where we will have another yoga class on the deck before dinner.
Day 10: End of the safari. Early morning yoga and we can spend the morning in the lodge. After lunch the safari ends, and you have to arrange your transport to the airport or into Arusha.
