This is a pristine area newly opened for tourism. Apart from the stunning landscape and views of the Annapurna region Ghalegaun offers a real opportunity to become a part of village life, lodging with local Gurung families. This area is also home to the famous honey hunters of Nepal.

This short trek is the perfect compliment to discovering some of the other highlights of Nepal – historic towns, white water rafting and the Kingdom’s most famous national park.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Drive to Besisahar, the bustling supply town for the villages of the Marsyandi Khola.

Day 2: The trail sets out along the banks of the Khudi River, past waterfalls and villages. It then begins a 4-5 hour climb; the view from the top however, is worth it – Annapurna and Manaslu at sunset. Lodging with families and an evening cultural program is one of the highlights of this trek.

Day 3: Sunrise affords further stunning views followed by a local breakfast. Visit Ghanpokhara village before descending for the short trek to Bhujung. This is a large, traditional Gurung village amid waterfalls and rhododendron forests.

Day 4: Recrossing the Midim River via suspension bridge, you then begin a 3-hour climb to Khumre Danda (2000m) before descending to Pasgaun. Visit the Buddhist gompa and learn traditional songs and dances with an evening cultural show.

Day 5: Today begins with a
steep descent to Rudi Stream, which we cross and then follow for about half an hour. Climbing again is rewarded by further views of the Annapurna and Manaslu Ranges.

Day 6: It is a steep 3-hour descent this morning to the Mandi River and the roadway at Thumsikot. From here it is 2-3 hours to Pokhara by local bus.

Day 7: Drive to Kathmandu (or you may choose to fly) and spend a last day shopping and sightseeing.
