Explore Pokhara’s classic routes, including the Kali Horseshoe, with its superb views of the Annapurnas and of the beautiful Macchapuchare (Fishtail). Head eastwards, via the Marsyangdi and Trisuli valleys and the ridge-top town of Gorkha, on trails which have seen few mountain bikers. After the testing, mile-high, climb to the Kathmandu Valley rim, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Nepal Himalaya from our camp at Kakani. The trip’s glorious finale is a downhill blast on the “Kathmandu Race Route.”
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu.
Day 2: Assemble bikes and take a riding tour of Kathmandu.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara. There may be time for a sunset ride along the shores of Phewa Tal (lake).
Day 4: A challenging day-ride from Pokhara - a 700 meter ascent to the summit of Sarangkot. This is an excellent viewpoint above Pokhara with a vast panoramic view of the Himalaya from Dhaulagiri to Manaslu. It is a long descent back to Pokhara.
Day 5: Bike the 'Khali Horseshoe' reaching a high point at 1270m. The descent is awesome, via the village of Hot Chili to the shores of Begnas Tal.
Day 6: A long off-road day crossing two small passes. Winding through terraced fields alongside water channels makes a fantastic ride and provides no end of amusement for the locals. At Bhorletar join a jeep track and wind along the Modi Khola River to the small village of Kalasti.
Day 7: A day that is mostly uphill (interspersed with downhill rushes). Following a ridge-top road through small unspoiled villages is an absolute highlight followed by a steep descent to Dumre on the Marsyangdi River.
Day 8: Following the Annapurna Circuit trek route to Palugtar, where an impressive footbridge crosses the raging Marsyandi River, a maze of footpaths leads across a small pass and down to the Dorandi Khola River. A lunchtime swim here is followed by a climb to Gorkha.
Day 9: A free day in Gorkha where you may choose to visit some of the sights of this historic town or venture out into surrounding villages.
Day 10: Seven miles of rough undulating jeep track leads to the village of Mailung. It is then a wild, overgrown 700m descent into the Buri Gandaki Valley. Following a neglected jeep track (which at one point turns into a stepped path) eventually reach the Trisuli River.
Day 11: Bike along the river to Batar Bazaar. Then it’s a long, steep 1600m climb to Kakani on the rim of the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 12: An exciting mix of jeep track and single track on the descent to Kathmandu.
Day 13: Depart or join your.
