Although parts of river dry out during the hot season lots of his lagoons carry water all year round and therefore attract the wildlife. This safari offers a "real Africa" experience within the Luangwa valley. You will see the wildlife wonders of South Luangwa while staying at a luxury lodge at the banks of the Luangwa valley.
The Island Bush Camp located inside the park offers a unique outdoor and bush feeling in open fronted reet huts. Finally Luangwa Wilderness Lodge means exclusive accommodation as it is the only lodge within remote Luambe National Park. This lodge is part of a sustainable conservation project and by visiting every guest contributes to the preservation and development of this area.
Day 1: Upon arrival in Lusaka you will have to pass through customs before you board your short flight to Mfuwe. Depending on your incoming flight connection you will reach Lusaka either early morning or around lunch time. Connecting time to the local flight is rather short. You will find your check-in desk within arrival hall.
The flight to Mfuwe takes approx. 1 ½ hrs.
In front of the airport building your open game-drive vehicle for road transfer to Kafunta lodge is already waiting for you. The drive takes 45 Min. on a tarred road passing the little village Mfuwe. The last stretch follows a sandy track. Depending on arrival time you might be able to join in for your first game drive.

After your return to the lodge a brunch is served on a wooden deck overlooking the Luangwa. You have than time to relax in your spacious room, explore the lodge area or just enjoy the little pool and hot spring. There is an afternoon tea before the night drive starts.
Enjoy your sundowner on the way while watching the unexceptional red African sun vanish behind the horizon. You return after dark when a candle light dinner is served. The chalets are built from thatch and wood with a bathroom and a little veranda. There is a hairdryer, a hot water cooker and a fridge within the room. A very personal atmosphere is part of the pleasant stay at Kafunta.

Life at Island Bush Camp is easy-going and relaxing. The park is explored by bushwalks or game drives. The sundowner is served on the opposite river bank after a short boat crossing. The bushwalks are an exciting adventure allowing you to get a close-up look on wildlife with absolutely nothing between you and nature.

The remote and romantic Luangwa Wilderness Lodge is situated right within Luambe National Park and offers an authentic bush feeling and experience being the only lodge within the park.
Depending only on solar power and purifying its own water the lodge tries to invade as little as possible with nature. Being deep in a wilderness area you still don`t have to miss comfort. The safari-style tents built on wooden platform have ensuite facilities, a small electric bulb and a little veranda. The lodge is linked to a conservation project and with your stay you actively contribute to the maintenance and development of a National Park.
