Day 1: Welcome to Armenia
The group is met at the airport and is transferred to the hotel in Yerevan. After some hours of rest we lead you to have a short walking city tour to discover the general features of Yerevan and in the evening a national dinner with local dishes and live music welcomes you to perceive some peculiarities of national character.
Day 2: Religious Armenia
Breakfast at the hotel. We take a trip to the religious center of Armenia to explore the Cathedral of Holy Echmiadzin and the Treasury Museum displaying the rich reserves of many relics of the religious history of the country. Later on we go to St. Hripsimeh and Gayaneh churches, and on the way back to Yerevan we visit the awe-inspiring ruins of Zvartnots temple. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3: Pagan art and Christian art
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we first go to Garni temple dating back to the 1st century A.D. - pagan era in Armenia and the thorough exploration of Garni fortress and temple is followed with a visit to one of the local houses to participate in backing process of the national bread called lavash, later, on to Geghard monastery, one of the most breathtaking ecclesiastical constructions in Armenia hewn into a rock. We also have a chance to listen to spiritual singing inside the monastery. After, we take the route to Sevan Lake where going up to the peninsula we fly back to the 9th century to imagine the daily life of the monks inhabiting in Sevan monastery. The picnic with barbecue on the beach sums the day up. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 4: Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we stay in Yerevan to explore it thoroughly from the very first days of its foundation to the modern constructions embroidering the capital city of the country. We start with Erebouni fortress founded in 782 B.C. and the museum displaying the findings of the excavations, later, on to Matenadaran to turn the pages of the history of manuscript writing and miniature painting of Armenia, and the last stop is in Tsitsernakaberd at Genocide Museum and Memorial complex.
Lunch, dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5: Biblical Mount Ararat
Breakfast at the hotel. We take all our cameras with us, as we go to observe Mount Ararat at close range. The first stop is at Khor Virap monastery built on a hill located very close the mountain. The monastery is in a territory where once the historical Artashat capital city had its bloom, golden age and collapse. Later on we go to Areni village to taste both house made wine and to discover the wine pressing process in the stores of the wine factory. After the wine factory we stop for lunch in the picturesque Canyon of Arpa river and then passing through the canyon we go up to Noravank monastery. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: Up to the Mountain
Breakfast at the hotel. We drive up towards the southern peak of Aragats mountain to see the medieval fortress of Amberd located at about 2400 meters above sea level. This visit is followed by a trip to Saghmosavank monastery built on the edge of Kasagh Canyon and the last stop is in Oshakan village to see the church in the sacristy of which the creator of Armenian alphabet St. Mesrop Mashtots was buried. Lunch in Yerevan and in the evening farewell party with traditional Armenian music, dancing, games and prizes.
Day 7: Transfer to the airport, departure.
