Day 1 - Arrive Luang Prabang
On arrival in Luang Prabang, welcome by our guide and transfer to hotel. Today’s main attractions are the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, Wat Mai and its famous bas-reliefs. Continue on foot through the small streets to Wat Xieng Muan before returning to climb the 328 steps to Mount Phousi. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2 - Pak Ou Caves excursion
For those who don’t mind get up early in the morning, take a very special (optional) dawn visit before breakfast to witness the long lines of orange-robed monks leaving their pagodas to receive offerings of food from Luang Prabang residents. Back to the hotel for breakfast. Visit beautiful Wat Xieng Thong showing its best face in the morning sun, the Wat That, Wat Visun and Wat Aham before embarking on a half-day boat trip on the Mekong River to visit Wat Chompet and then the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. In Pak Ou, thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues are crammed into the two caves carved out of a towering limestone cliff. Return to Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (Breakfast)
Day 3 - Depart Luang Prabang
In the morning visit a weaving village where traditional Lao textiles are woven and where Sa paper is made and make a stop at Wat Pa Phon Pao, a forest retreat before transferring to the airport for your flight out. (Breakfast)
