A journey along the historic route is a treasure house of nature, culture and historic riches. Along this northern route: - the ancient city of Axum with its monolithic steles, the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela which are recognized as one of the wonders of the world, the city of Gondar with its 17th century castle buildings, the marvelous Semien Mountain chains, the romantic city of Bahardar, the Majestic Blue Nile falls, lake Tana with its island monasteries can be visited.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Addis Ababa. Arrive at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Be met and welcomed by our representative and transferred in to Ghion Hotel. Overnight Ghion hotel.

Day 2: Addis Ababa-Bahar Dar. Transfer in to the Airport and fly to Bahir Dar and be transfer in to the Tana Hotel. Bahir Dar is a modern town on the shore of Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile River that contains about 37 islands. Morning drive to visit the Blue Nile Falls, locally known as ‘Tis-Isat’ meaning ‘water that smokes’, 35 kilometers down stream from the point where the Nile River leaves the Lake Tana. In the after noon visit the market and top view of the city. O/n Tana Hotel

Day 3: Lake Tana. After breakfast enjoy a boat ride on Lake Tana to visit the Famous ancient island monastery of Ura Kidane Meheret and Kibran Gabriel few of one of the several in the area containing Frescos, elaborate painted ceilings, church crosses, crowns and attires of former Ethiopian kings and emperors. Overnight Tana Hotel.

Day 4: Bahar Dar - Gondar. In the morning drive to Gondar through countryside and scenic landscapes. Gondar is a town, which was the capital of Ethiopia in the 17th century. It is the site of ancient castle building palaces of different emperors constructed in the European middle age architectural style, Debre Berehan Silassie church with its ancient mural paintings, Emperor Fasil’s pool, which is still use for the Timket (the Ethiopian Epiphany) festival held every January, 19. Day 5: Gondar - Sankaber - Debark. Morning drive to Debark and a day excursion to the Simien Mountains National Park. Here you will enjoy the surrounding Scenic views and the endemic Gellada Baboons with the breathtaking environment. Overnight Simien Park Hotel.

Day 6: Debark - Axum. Drive to Axum through enjoying the very beautiful scenic views of the Simien mountains chain. Overnight Yeha Hotel.

Day 7: Axum. Axum is the ancient capital of Ethiopia and the cradle of Ethiopian civilization. Axum is famous for its more than 2000 year old Axumite steles measuring some of them up to 33m high, the bath and palace of Queen of Sheba, King Caleb’s and other kings tombs, archaeological museum which is widely rated as Ethiopia's best, the church of St. Mary of Tsion, where the original Ark of covenant is housed. Legend has it that the son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon of Israel, King Menelik I brought the original Ark from Israel to Axum. Overnight Yeha hotel.

Day 8: Axum - Lalibela. Transfer to Airport and fly to Lalibella, famous for its rock hewn churches dating back 800 years, and transferred to the Yeha Hotel. There are no less than 1000 churches in the Lasta Region of Lalibella, some hidden in enormous caves, but it's exceptional to find 11 churches of such master craftsmanship in one locale. These brilliant feats of engineering and architecture are often referred to as the "Eighth wonder of the world". The afternoon is spent exploring the atmospheric subterranean complex of passages and churches. Overnight Roha hotel.

Day 9: Lalibela. In the morning half-day excursion by mule to Asheton Mariam to visit the Church that lie on the top of the mountain. The Church itself is similar in style to other rock churches, but the panoramic view of the surroundings is spectacular from the mountaintop. Return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon spent visiting more of the rock churches in Lalibella town. Overnight Roha Hotel.

Day 10: Lalibela - Addis Ababa. Transfer to the Airport and fly back to Addis and transferred to Sheraton Addis. The remaining time will be at leisure or more sightseeing tour of the town. Evening departure back to home.
