Day 1. Caracas – Ciudad Guayana
Meet your travel assistant at the Maiquetía airport in Caracas and he/she will welcome you to Venezuela, answer all your questions, and transfer you to your connecting flight to Ciudad Guayana, the capital of the Guayana region. Upon arrival at Ciudad Guayana, you will be transferred to Ciudad Bolivar (about a 3 hour drive). Overnight at Posada Angostura. ( - / - / - ).
Note: You need to arrive at Maiquetía airport before 12:00 pm. If you cannot be there before noon, Turpial Travel can make arrangements - at additional costs - to stay one night in a hotel of your preference close to the airport.
Day 2. Canaima National Park
Early in the morning, fly to Canaima National Park. If the weather is clear enough, you will take a short flight to see Angel Falls from the air. From the plane you will come so close to the fall that you will see how te Fall hides inside a big Tepuy wall. From the plain you will have an amazing view of the Auyan Tepuy and its canyons, a 700.000 Km surface, looking like a green carpet of mountains.
After seeing this beautiful landscape, you will arrive at Canaima National Park and an assistant will be waiting for you to transfer you to Waku Loudge. After lunch, take your bathing suit and enjoy a boat ride in the Canaima Lagoon, in a Curiara (an Indian boat). Across the lagoon, hear the waterfalls with all its power. After that, start a nice walk through the rainforest, and walk inside the majestic Sapo Fall! Walk back to the camp to be transfer to the airport to take your flight back to Cuidad Bolivar. Day 3. Ciudad Guayana – Orinoco Delta
After breakfast, drive from Ciudad Bolivar to Delta del Orinoco, Castillo de Guayana (about a 5 hour drive) and stay the night at Orinoco Discovery Camp. (B / - / D).
Day 4. Orinoco Delta
Take a boat ride through the Orinoco River and experience the Delta ecosystem. In this boat excursion you will see different bird species, monkeys, piranhas, and if you are lucky you might see a pink river dolphin! Along the way see some local Indian communities. Overnight Orinoco Discovery Camp. (B / L / D).
Days 5 & 6. Orinoco Delta – Henri Pittier National Park
After breakfast, return to Ciudad Guayana to take a flight to Caracas. Upon arrival in Caracas drive to Henri Pittier National Park (a 6 hour drive). Enjoy the palm-lined beach, the river and/or walks in Henry Pittier National Park. Overnight at Posada Turpial. (B / - / - ).
Day 7. Henry Pittier National Park – Mérida
Early in the morning, drive to Tremaria Park and experience its extraordinary biodiversity. See monkeys, variety of birds and insects, Perezas (lazy bear), and trek through sugar cane, coffee and avocados plantations until you reach a local Trapiche (sugarcane mill) where you will make a papelón (a brown sugar in loaves). Return to Posada Turpial and in the evening take an over-night buss to Mérida. (B / L / - ).
Day 8. Mérida
In the morning you will be transferred to Posada Casa Sol where you will rest. Enjoy the Andean city of Mérida. Take an optional ride on the highest cable car in the world! Overnight at Casa Sol. ( - / - / - ).
Day 9. Mérida
Visit the Andean Paramo. Travel through Visit colonial Andean villages and enjoy the drinks and cuisine they have to offer. We will drive up the Pico Aguila (4,125-m), the highest point in Venezuela. Visit the Andean Condor Station and the Laguna Mucubaji Park (3,800-m) located in the Sierra Nevada. In this lake you will be able to see the yellows flowers of frailejones – a plant only seen in the Andean regions. Next, walk or take a horseback ride to Laguna Negra (optional), where you will enter into a microclimate that due to its special ecosystem receives more rain and humidity than the surrounding Paramo area. This extra humidity gives life to an interesting diversity of plant species, adding color and greenery to the wind-swept Paramo region. Laguna Negra is a beautiful site on a clear, calm day. The black water forms such a perfect mirror that it disappears and is replaced by the reflection of the trees on the mountainside. Overnight at Hotel Los Frailes. ( - / L / - ).
Day 10. Mérida – Los Llanos
Early in the morning, after breakfast, drive to Hato Cedral (ranch) in the Apure plains renowned for its exceptional wildlife and unique landscape display. It is the perfect place for eco-tourist seeking to experience nature in its purest form. ( - / - / D)
Days 11 & 12. Hato Cedral
At the Hato see anacondas, giant antiaters, white tailed deers, red howler monkeys, pink dolphins, jaguars, pumas, caimans, crocodiles, and several bird species. Overnight at Hato Cedral. ( B / L / D).
Day 13. Hato Cedral – Caracas
Early transfer to the Barinas airport in time for flights departing to Caracas. Transfers for flights departing at other times can be arranged in advance at an additional charge. (B / - / - /).
