The Yoga & Thalasso Detox Weeks: The Yoga Thalasso Spa Week is an integrated program combining sea water Thalassotherapy treatments with Yogic teachings for beginners as well as Wellbeing programs that promote optimal health in the following five key areas:
- Vital elements and makes metabolic renovation possible due to its biological qualities and the similarity of its physiological composition to human plasma. Natural sea-water is used, heated to between 32 and 36º to favor the penetration of the oligo-elements into the epidermis, relaxing and soothing the muscles. The intensive use of various types of seaweed and marine muds further enhances the benefits to be gained from their wealth of oligo-elements.
- Relaxation - during guided Yogi Relaxation techniques stress is reduced as the heart rate slows and there is an increase in alpha brain waves resulting in a deeper sense of calm. The 'fight or flight' stress response is sent into remission and the parasympathetic nervous system is activated, enhancing digestion, toxin elimination and wellbeing.
- Hydration - our bodies are composed over 70% water and our internal body water supplies need to be replenished regularly with fresh quality water. A program of re-hydration with at least one and a half liters per day ensures better hydration of the skin and vital organs from the inside out.
- Oxygenation - the oxygen we take in supplies 90% of the fuel for our metabolism, whereas food only supplies 10%. Oxygen is the most important nutrient available to us. We need it for overall health and for skin cell regeneration. The use of yogi breathing techniques effectively oxygenate our bodies by increasing the ratio to oxygen to carbon dioxide in the body thus leading to increased energy and vitality.
- Circulation - physical movement including yoga postures, walking and exercise in the sea water dynamic pool helps promote circulation and therefore efficient distribution of nutrients through the blood and the effective elimination of toxins form the body. Oxygen and nutrient rich blood is better transported around the body during gentle movement followed by a short period of rest.

Thalassotherapy: The term thalassotherapy comes from the Greek thalassa, (sea) and therapy, (treatment). Although the technique was used by the Greeks and the Romans, it was only in 1820 that the first centres as we now know them were opened. Containing 92 of the 120 known oligo-elements, such as magnesium, iodine, lithium, zinc, copper, selenium and calcium, Thalassotherpay is an excellent curative and preventive therapy.
Due to the specific action of the marine medium and by the overall and natural attention given to the body, doctors are able to prevent imbalances that could prejudice the metabolism. Thalassotherapy is also used for treating rheumatism, arthrosis and arthritis, by rehabilitation in a marine medium.
Differences Between Balneotherapy, Thermalism, Thalassotherapy And Spa's. Although these therapies all use the same basic element - water - each one has its own specific features. It is therefore very important to clearly establish the differences between these practices in order to optimize their use.
Balneotherapy and SPA ('Salus Per Aqua') use water from the public water system to provide comfort and well-being. Very often these treatments are linked to sports centers and beauty parlors and use the physical qualities of water to improve the user's form.
Thermalism (treatment using spring waters) uses mineral water coming from a spring, for therapeutic purposes generally using just one oligo-element.
Thalassotherapy is the combined use of seawater, sea air, and substances extracted from the sea (marine muds, sea-weeds, sand). A person who weighs 80 Kg will weigh 20 Kg in freshwater and just 8 Kg in sea-water. This makes efforts easier and permits more rapid rehabilitation. The qualities of this therapy are both curative and preventive.
