By specializing in rigorous English language coaching, we drive the ambitious learner to achieve. The learning day comprises small group lessons (maximum 1:4) and one-to-one tutoring, an interactive communication workshop for language activation, and preparation and consolidation periods to ensure the best use of lesson time.
Instructors use English in Boston’s long-established approach to coaching motivated adult learners, emphasizing Pitch (aiming the lesson high), Pace (keeping the pace lively and varied), Push (stretching the students to go beyond their comfort zone), Practice (making practice the center of every lesson), and Presentation (presenting the lesson clearly and professionally, with aims, vocabulary, and out-of-class assignment set out on the whiteboard).
Students’ efforts are supported by our experienced Director of Studies, a Self Access Study Center with internet facilities, a choice of accommodation, and a range of other services.

Program content:
- Grammar and Use - focus on developing accuracy in the use of English
* review of verb tenses, use of the passive voice, modals, prepositions, relative clauses, etc.;
* sentence structure, linking strategies, style
- Comprehension - reading, listening, and video activities
* text analysis, identifying key points, predicting content, understanding register;
* listening for main ideas and details, note-taking, summarizing;
* word-building and storage, collocations, idiomatic expressions
- Expression
* focus on developing fluency in the use of the language;
* presentations, interaction, role-play and feedback;
* practicing intonation, stress, and specific pronunciation items;
* written style and appropriacy for note-taking, correspondence, and reports;
- Tutorial - a one-to-one lesson with your instructor;
- Quatorial - with two or three other ambitious English learners;
+ Masterclass: guided self-study;
+ Fluency Practice Workshop (1:12) offered every afternoon to help you activate your English by practicing with other students in the school;
Other Activities:
We offer a program of activities which allow students to discover Boston, get to know each other, and practice their English. Activities include museum visits, school parties, and concerts. There is no extra charge for the activity program.
Facility Information:
English in Boston is located in the Park Square Building in the elegant Back Bay area of Boston. The building has excellent facilities, including four cafes, a restaurant, and a bank. Fashionable Newbury Street is only a two-minute walk away, and the lovely Public Garden is right next door. The school interior has been designed and furnished to provide a comfortable, relaxed and business-like environment in which students are able to concentrate fully on their studies.
