Accrediting Bodies
British Council - The British Council is the national accrediting body in the UK for schools, colleges and universities that provide courses in English as a foreign language. As part of the English in Britain Accreditation Scheme (EiBAS), the British Council carries out regular inspections on behalf of English UK of all those institutions that provide training of high quality.
NCFE - Established since 1848, the NCFE is a national UK awarding body that offers a diverse portfolio of vocational qualifications. NCFE qualifications meet the requirements and high standards set by the British Government's education standards agency, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. NCFE is the accrediting body for all scheduled BBSI Certificate, Higher-Certificate & Diploma courses.
One of the largest vocational awarding bodies, City & Guilds operates in the UK under Royal Charter. City & Guilds qualifications are recognised internationally for employment purposes and for progression to further education and university. Over 70 UK universities recognise City & Guilds qualifications as meeting the requirements for entry to relevant first degree courses, with a number of qualifications gaining the respective holder an exemption credit for the first year of a relevant degree.
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) promotes the art and science of management. CMI has a Royal Charter and is a nationally accredited organisation responsible for establishing standards of excellence in management and recognising that excellence through the award of professional qualifications. BBSI is an Approved Training Centre.
Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, United Kingdom
The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, United Kingdom (CILT UK) is the leading professional association in Britain for managers and academics involved in the fields of transport and distribution. The Institute seeks to maintain and improve standards within the industry via its own system of educational courses and professional qualifications. BBSI is an Academic Partner and Approved Training Centre.
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognised qualification that enables individuals to demonstrate competence in computer skills. BBSI is an Approved Training Centre. The ECDL is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries and is designed specifically to develop IT skills and provide a benchmark qualification in computing, thus enhancing career prospects.
The requirements specified in the NQA ISO 9001 Standard are aimed primarily at achieving customer satisfaction. Management-system certification stimulates a climate of confidence in the procedures and practices that institutions apply in support of the services they provide. The NQA registration mark is an indication that BBSI meets the needs and expectations of its trainees in providing high quality and good value.
English UK is the official representing body for English-language institutions in the UK, and is the only official UK association that submits to external inspection of its members. English UK, in association with the British Council operates the English in Britain Accreditation Scheme (EiBAS). Each member submits to regular inspections, to ensure the highest standards in academic quality, management, welfare, accommodation, trainee services and health & safety. Moreover, a complaints procedure provides access to an independent ombudsman.
IALC - Established in 1983, IALC is as an association for quality assured independent language schools throughout the world. All schools accredited by IALC are regularly inspected and monitored under the IALC Quality Scheme. Membership is by invitation only. While each member of IALC is independent and unique, each shares the highest commitment to professionalism and excellence in all aspects of service.
The BBSI ethos is based on the work-hard, play-hard principle. In addition to a sound and intensive academic programme, therefore, students are encouraged in every way possible to enjoy their leisure time to the full. The School has a varied and extensive social and sports programme.
Whilst all types of accommodation are available, to ensure maximum exposure to the English language and culture, all trainees are encouraged to reside with local host-families. Both standard and executive host-family accommodation is available on a part-board basis, ie breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and all meals at weekends. Welfare staff are on hand throughout normal School opening hours, and emergency staff are contactable at weekends and overnight.
Religious Observance - When compiling weekly timetables the School makes every effort to allow trainees to observe their religious faiths.
Medical Care - All necessary medical arrangements are made for trainees who become unwell, and medical treatment is normally provided free by the British National Health Service. Insurance cover is necessary, however, to cover the cost of non-emergency treatment, including dental and optical care.
