English is undoubtedly the language of international communication in the business and professional world. Companies and individuals who add English to their other abilities are suddenly able to perform internationally - opening up new markets, globalizing activities, creating true cross-cultural communication, learning from other countries and enhancing both company prospects and also careers. Our school works in the areas of specialist language training, in-company programmes, total-immersion courses, management training, course design, one-to-one, small group and combination training formats, specialist seminars, simulations, needs analysis and consultancy.
The philosophy of school can be summarised as, "Personal, professional, quality training". Our center is recognised as efficient by the British Council - which regularly inspects us and ensures that high standards continue to be met. We are also a member of ARELS, the Association of Recognised English Language Services, which is the professional body of the English Language Industry and provides another quality monitor. Finally, we are members of Business English UK which is the specialist organisation for Business English providers. These are your recognised guarantees of quality. The real guarantee, however, is the satisfaction of our clients and course participants, the length of time we have worked with companies and the participants who return for more training with us.
Learning specialist language intensively is very hard work. If the course becomes too intensive, there are walks through the gardens, around the lake and among the trees to clear the head and help participants to work effectively and with the greatest possible efficiency. We believe that we have created the ideal environment for language learning. Our course participants work extremely hard within a relaxed atmosphere located in a place of great beauty. Our center provides courses in General English, Business English and a very large number of specific types of English or English for Specific Purposes:
- General English includes Socializing, English for Study Purposes, Travel, General Communication or Research.
- Business English can look at general Business language or it could be one of a series of work-focused topics such as: Finance, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Production, General Management, Logistics etc.
- Specific English can cover such areas as: Medicine, Law, Journalism, Advertising, Banking, Insurance, Engineering, Petroleum, Automotive Industries, Pharmaceuticals, Chemical Industry, Biotechnology, Railways, Accounting, Auditing, Financial Trading, Aeronautics etc.
Specific Skills in English can be taught in all of these areas and a course can focus intensively on one of these skills or on a selection of several. These include: Corresponding, Meetings, Negotiations, Presentations, Socializing, Attending Conferences, Working with Numbers, Intercultural Awareness, Business Travel, Report-writing, Reading Technical Documents etc.
Individual courses are available in intensities from 20 hours to 50 hours per week but the most usual option is 40 hours per week. An individual course allows you to decide exactly what you are going to study, using which materials and at what speed. Individual course participants have two to three trainers, one of whom is the course tutor. Each individual course is tailor-made for the participant and is based upon initial needs analysis and then more detailed diagnostic assessment on the first morning of the course.
Lunches: An essential part of school's courses is the lunch programme. In order to provide variety, give practice in social situations (and eat well!) all participants go out to lunch with trainers in a selection of traditional pubs and restaurants near the centre. This is an important part of the programme and so is included in the course price. Every morning and every evening, all participants are transported by center's cars between the accommodation and the training centre.
As part of the course, center organises a social programme. This includes an evening activity in the middle of every week and a full-day excursion every Saturday. The cost of the social programme is included in the price of the course.
Evening Activities can include:
- Classical Music, Theatre, Jazz, Cinema
- Golf, Bowling, Tennis, Fishing
- Dinners, Pub Crawls, Coastal Drives, Late Night Shopping,
Saturday Excursions can be:
- The English Riviera, Dartmoor National Park, Exeter and Plymouth, Cornwall and King Arthur
- Castles and Croquet, East Devon Heritage Coast
- Boat Trips, Bath and Wells
- Stonehenge and Salisbury
Executive Home Stay: We strongly recommend staying with an Executive Home Stay where our course participants live in beautiful homes of English professional people who provide accommodation of the highest standard. If you choose Executive Home Stay, you will have a bedroom with a private bathroom, breakfast and evening meal every day and lunch on Sundays. The food is of a very high quality and the furnishings, decoration and garden are appropriate for this level of accommodation.
Hotels: Some participants prefer to stay in a hotel and, of course, we understand this. We work with several hotels and can arrange accommodation in small or large establishments, with sports or business facilities, next to the sea, in a town or in the countryside. We have a full range of possibilities from 1 star to 4 star.
Self-catering: Some of our participants can only come during their holidays and therefore they like to bring their families. The school works closely with several agencies to provide cottages, houses or apartments for our clients.
