Located in British Columbia, Canada, the Medical English Center offers immersion courses in English as a Second Language designed for Medical Professionals. Using the methods and unique curriculum developed by Pikku Vichert, the courses are concentrated on the use of English in a medical context. They teach both the language and culturally appropriate communication skills for practicing medical careers in an English speaking environment.
Medical English Center understands that medical professionals need to make the best possible use of their limited time and therefore it has designed courses that produce results as quickly as possible. All Medical English courses are limited to a maximum of four students per class. This allows students effective interaction and provides ample opportunity for individual attention.
Faculty Information:
This course is intended to be taken with the Core Medical English Course. It is designed to reinforce the material learned in that course. Practicing Medical English is not as intense as Core Medical English but it is calculated to help the student commit the Core material to long-term memory. This is done by using the material learned in the Core course.
The two courses are coordinated so that the same material that is being taught in the Core course is being reinforced in this course. The fact that there is a maximum of 4 students in the class assures the students that they have ample class time to use what they have learned. Like the Core course Practicing Medical English is ongoing on a four month rotating basis. All components of the course will be taught every month but the content will not repeat itself until the fifth month. This means that a student can enter the course at any time, and can choose a one, two, three or four month course.
The program is 15 hours a week and includes 15 hours of learning which include use of the language laboratory, shadowing of medical professionals, conversation and pronunciation classes.

Vancouver has a wide variety of furnished and unfurnished apartments available. Medical English Center can find a furnished apartment for you in the downtown area, close to the school. These apartments are comfortable and secure, and some have swimming pools and exercise rooms. If you want, our center will arrange it for you and personally inspect it before you arrive.
