Tap into the creative writer within you. This class is geared for anxious beginners and uninspired writers, so whether you are a beginner or experienced writer, this writing workshop is for you. You will write similes, metaphors, alliteration, and more through practice and daily writing exercises with a real, live, interactive, online teacher you can talk with.
You will learn specific methods to craft poetry and prose. Creative Writing Workshop offers you a great source of inspiration, a wealth of concrete examples, and the step by step guidance you need in order to write creatively. I will show you writing prompts and samples from my own journal to provide you a model, and to give you the support you need. Bring a desire to learn, and a commitment to write every day throughout the entire course.
Course Lessons
1. Lesson One: Inside This Pen - Inside This Pen... Be a writer; act like a writer. Choose your writing tools carefully, a pen and a journal. You will begin your daily thirty minute writing exercises.
2. Lesson Two: Observation, Description, Simile and Metaphor - Observation, Description, Simile and Metaphor.
3. Lesson Three: Be an Ethnographer with Euphony and Cacophony - Euphony, Cacophony, Found Poem, Derived Poem, Themes, Lists and Color Poems.
4. Lesson Four: Neighborhood Maps, Lists, Schema - Neighborhood Maps: Lists to Hang On To, Schema, Prepositions.
5. Lesson Five: The Journal Experience - Evaluate your own writing journey through your daily free writing journal. Museum writing prompts to jazz up your creativity.

Faculty Information:
Tap into the creative writer within you, and end the frustration of writer's block with Creative Writing Workshop. Students will master the discipline of daily writing by writing 30 minutes daily, 5 days a week, for 5 weeks. This is crucial to any success. Students will learn how to summon their muse to get the creative juices flowing by following lessons and assignments. By the end of the six week course, students will compose a series of poems and prose, creating a writing journal filled with strong imagery and literary elements.
