*Aims and Objectives:
The aim of this course is to help students find ways of teaching themselves about art by learning how to study great drawings and extract information them that will inspire and motivate their work. Students will not look at how to create a pastiche of the masters’ work but instead they will be taught and tested on what the particular concerns that they feel master may have had whilst drawing.
The aim is also that the student will gain a deeper sense of what kind of challenges great artists had set for themselves. The course will be strongly tied in most weeks with the curriculum set in their history of art lectures that they receive on a Wednesday. This will mean that during the History of Art Course they will learn about the Artist and on a Friday in the same week they will use those artist ideas whilst working on their drawings.
