Thanks to our unique immersion program the students learn the language in a very fast and easy way. Since a lot of our students love the ocean and the surf, we are offering a special Spanish&Surf package.
Spanish classes are hold in beautiful classrooms with a lot of space and a perfect view to our amazing tropical garden where animals like Iguanas and Monkeys can be seen almost daily. The school is located just one block from the beach. We offer different lodging options such as 3 student houses in Tamarindo that are all in walking distance to the school and the beach. In addition our students have the possibility to experience the real Costa Rican live staying with one of our carefully selected host families in the nearby towns of Villareal and Santa Rosa.
Faculty Information:
We only employ highly trained, educated and experienced teachers. Teacher evaluation and development courses are held on a monthly basis to keep the staff current with the latest teaching techniques, and individual teachers take part in weekly training sessions.
The administrative staff has many years of experience in operating successfully a Spanish immersion school and is very professional and friendly. We speak Spanish, English, German, French and some Italian.
Other Activities:
During the week, the school offers fun activities such as volleyball, football at the beach, BBQ, hiking trips to see the sunset, dance lessons, dinner at student house, pool parties, and more. Most of the activities are free and after school hours and are a great opportunity to meet and share experiences with other students. Those students staying with host families will receive free transportation back to their houses after the activity
Facility Information:
WAYRA is centrally located in Playa Tamarindo and just 150 meters from the beach.
The school is situated in a beautiful tropical garden. On the premises the students can find three buildings and two small ranchos (open air dry palm huts).
All the classrooms are distributed among the buildings. The classrooms are spacious and comfortable, with large open windows to create a comfortable and appropriate atmosphere to study.
The main rancho houses two classrooms on the second floor and the cafeteria with a snack bar on the ground floor. In the cafeteria students relax and enjoy conversations with other students while having some snacks and refreshments. It is also a good place to do homework during school hours or to take part in one of the dance lessons that are practiced after school on the main floor.
At WAYRA, the students can enjoy the local wildlife. Iguanas, birds, and many other small animals can be observed while listening to the braking waves of the ocean. Often, the tranquility is only interrupted by the howling of monkeys that takes away the breath of students each time they stop for a visit.
