Facility Information:
At our school, students have the choice to live either at the off-campus international students hotel or find their own private accommodations. Both have their benefits and the program strongly encourages students to take some time to decide where they wish to live during their studies.
Off-Campus International Students Hotel – Youliao: Arranged by our school, students can live at the international students hotel called “Youliao”. Located only ten minutes’ walk from Peking University, Youliao is very convenient and helpful for students to quickly adapt into their new lives in Beijing, not to mention students also have the opportunity to meet other Peking University international students from all over the world. Also in the area, there are numerous restaurants and supermarkets available for students’ needs.
At Youliao, they offer clean rooms with standard necessities such as clean beds, sheets and pillows, a television, phone, personal shower, towels, air conditioning, heating, desk, lamps, chairs, teacups, water boiler, bookshelves etc. Laundry facilities are also located in the buildings for cleaning needs. Each building has service personnel who cleans and tends to students’ rooms every morning. All buildings are monitored 24-hours, thus making Youliao a safe living facility. Lastly, living at Youliao does not require students to do any additional registration of housing once they enter on site.
Personal private accommodation in Beijing: our students also have the option to find their own accommodations while studying in Beijing. This will allow you to personally decide what type of housing fits into your budget and needs. If a student chooses to find their own housing, many factors are unfortunately simply out of the control of the Thunderbird LAB Program. The program is unable to help in finding housing, location of housing, negotiating with the Realtors and landlords, reviewing and signing of contract, the price of rent and service fees charged, housing disputes, room quality, safety etc. In addition, students must register with the local police in the district to where they will be living. This process requires the student and the landlord to personally go the police station with the correct forms of identification. Otherwise, the student may be forced to pay a serious fine of violation if they fail to register.
The office of our school can offer some advice and tips for students but because due to the circumstance that the office is always busy managing the program and working, personal private accommodation is fully the responsibility of LAB students. We did not want to restrict our students to only live at the off-campus hotel of Youliao, but we have to advise that there are several other procedures that must be carried out. But if students successfully suitable accommodations and complete the necessary procedures, this option will prove to be rewarding in your experience living in Beijing.
Notes:
The school reserves the right at any time to amend its tuition fees and methods of payment, in addition to any policies regarding such tuition, fees and payment methods.
