Our school is an independent International Language School, directed by Oliver Lechmlair. We are part of the Tandem Network of quality language schools around the world supporting individual, autonomous language learning through partnership. Our goal is to enable people from different backgrounds to meet and understand each other.
We place a special emphasis on using efficient and creative teaching methods while remaining flexible and open to the wishes and needs of our students. We use the most professional teaching methods, the motto of our qualified teachers is: learning German should be fun! Small groups, communicative lessons, friendly and pleasant atmosphere at our school will make it a pleasure for you to learn.
And so that you come into close contact with the German language and culture outside the classroom, we will provide you with a full cultural program, private accommodation and a so-called Tandem: Enjoy the wide variety of cultural activities on offer, live with people from Cologne for a couple of weeks, and discover with your partner from our school the secrets of this fascinating city at the heart of Europe!
* Our Courses Levels: Our levels correspond to the Council of Europe's framework of reference. Our basic levels consist of three course modules (beginner levels 1 to 3 or A1, A2 and B1).
- A1 - you will be able to understand and use easy phrases;
- A2 - you will be able to communicate in situations of everyday life;
- B1 - you will be able to communicate about most topics using easy language;
- B2 - you will be able to understand more complex texts and communicate about special interest topics;
- C1 - you will be able to understand difficult texts and to communicate spontaneously and fluent;
- C2 - your language skills will be (almost) as good as those of native speakers.
The beginner levels lead to intermediate levels 1 and 2 (B2/C1) and are followed by the advanced level (OS only on request). Each course has a total of 160 teaching hours (8 weeks intensive course).
* Examinations: students who have completed level B 1 may take part in an examination at our school which corresponds to Zertifikat Deutsch (TELC). After completing intermediate level 2, you may take an examination corresponding to the ZMP-exam of the Goethe-Institute.
* German courses 2006:
- Regular Year Round Program: German Courses at our school run year round and are available at all levels, Beginners to Advanced. Classes consist of 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week. You'll always learn in small classes, usually in groups of five to ten students. Starting dates (except for Beginners) are every Monday. Minimal participation time is 2 weeks. Students with some knowledge of German usually can be accommodated at short notice.
The cost varies from EUR 360 (4 weeks) to EUR 440 (5 weeks). Additional weeks - EUR 80. Private lesson (45 min.) - EUR 33. Registration fee – EUR 40. The registration fee includes the course confirmation, information package, placement test and certificate of attendance.
As well we are happy to help you getting a our school partnership for free - and you can have the language exchange experience. Teaching materials in form of copies are included, the course book for the basic levels (Delfin) costs EUR 14, 95; for the intermediate levels is EUR 26,45.
These courses are appropriate as exam preparation for the DSH or TestDaf (admission requirement for the German universities) and other exams (Zertifikat Deutsch and ZMP). In addition to regular German classes, our school's offers a basic cultural program (one event per week, transport costs and entrance fees to activities are extra).
- Summer Courses: German summer courses at our school are offered at all levels, from Beginners to Advanced. There is a maximum of 10 students per class. All courses are intensive, scheduled for 20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week. Starting dates (except for Beginners) are every Monday. Minimal participation time is 2 weeks.
In addition to regular German classes, students can participate in our school's special cultural program (3 events per week, transport costs and entrance fees to activities are extra). The price varies from EUR 320 (2 weeks) to EUR 999 (9 weeks courses). Registration fee – EUR 40.
The registration fee includes the course confirmation, information package, placement test and certificate of attendance. As well we are happy to help you getting a our school partnership for free - and you can have the language exchange experience. Teaching materials in form of copies are included, the course books for the basic levels (Delfin) costs EUR 14,95; for the intermediate levels EUR 26,45.
* Accommodation: Our school will arrange for you the same kind of accommodation enjoyed by many Kölners. Typically, accommodation consists of individual rooms in private flats. All Tandem-arranged accommodation provides a private room with access to kitchen and bath or shower.
For a limited number of younger students we can arrange accommodation with host-families: with breakfast - EUR 40, with half-board - EUR 90 per week in addition to above price. Finding last minute accommodation can be difficult, especially during the summer. Though we will always do our best to help, we strongly recommend that you make your accommodation requests well before arrival in Germany.
Special arrangements are always possible. Please be aware that accommodation booking is an extra service provided by our school.
