It's a clean, safe, relaxed, low-cost city with a Mediterranean climate, half a day from Asia and 6 hours ahead of Europe. Its people are famously friendly.
Geoff Evans - our Director has more than 25 years experience in international education. He is a lecturer and teacher trainer and has managed large education enterprises in Asia and Europe before coming to Australia. As a career officer in the British Council, he has worked in seven different countries mostly in Asia. Foundation Studies teach and practice conversational and written grammar and vocabulary based on a well-organized syllabus. Skills Work helps students to understand, speak, read and write English with authenticity, fluency and confidence. English sounds and spelling conventions are also taught here.
Progress is monitored with weekly tests and a formal 6-weekly Level Test. Students must pass their Level Test to proceed to a higher Level. Each of the 12 levels of the syllabus takes approximately 6 weeks of study. Electives allow students to focus on their preferred choice, different electives are offered at different times of the year, but these are some examples:
- Cambridge PET Exam Preparation: the internationally recognized 'first step' in English language study.
- TOEFL Exam Preparation: a complete program from TOEFL 400 to 550, including practice exams. Exams are held every two months.
- Business English: covering all the World English levels, this course prepares participants for the Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) exams, which can be taken in March, June and November.
- Living English: uses real-world contemporary materials to practice and extend your English in non-academic contexts.
- Full-time Cambridge FCE Courses.
- Full-time 12-week preparation courses for the academic Cambridge University English language examinations are offered twice a year (a 10-week FCE course is also offered in January).

The school occupies modern, open-plan premises in a street with wide pavements and al fresco restaurants. There is a Student Common Room with TV, fridge and microwave ovens, and a games area. We share our building with one of Perth's most established hotels, the King's Hotel. We take great care in arranging your accommodation. You can choose to stay with an Australian family, or in a private room without meals, or in a student hostel, or you can stay on campus at the 3-star King's Perth Hotel, which offers our students’ residential rates at homestay prices in the exact centre of the city.
Faculty Information:
Our teachers have a university degree or teaching diploma and/or government-recognized qualification in TEFL/TESOL. Our senior academic staff normally have the RSA Diploma or equivalent, or a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics.

Tanya Allen - Assistant Director of Studies, has taught English in several colleges in Perth, as well as teaching English to secondary school children in various private high schools in and around Perth. Her first degree is in English from Curtin University, and she also holds the Graduate Diploma in Education from UWA (with High Distinction) and the Cambridge RSA Certificate in the Teaching of English.
Our staff are here to help you. Your Course Tutor will follow your progress and our Student Services staff will help you with your other needs, such as finding a flat or a job. Instruction in how to use the internet, with your own e-mail address, is provided free of charge.
Other Activities:
A program of social events and activities allows you to practise your English and enjoy yourself at the same time. There is a Welcome Party for new students, and there are usually 3 social activities on offer per week. Snorkeling, horse-riding, golf, catamaran sailing, picnics, barbecues and visits to vineyards, farms and the Bush are examples of such activities.

The classrooms have good-quality tape recorders, overhead projectors, whiteboards, and comfortable seating. The guaranteed maximum class size is 12. The minimum age is 16. Your Study Folder is provided free of charge, and your text-books are loaned to you without charge.
The Student Resource Centre has broadband internet access for email and web browsing, with guidance available; multimedia networked computers equipped for language study; video recording and playback equipment; self-access listening facilities for practicing listening and speaking skills; newspapers, magazines, and other reading and reference material.
A bar and a café are located on the ground floor. Free city-centre buses stop in front of the school. Perth City Centre Library is next door to the school. Membership is free. World-class medical care is available in the Medical Centre 5 minutes' walk away.
