The courses take place in the "Masseria degli Ulivi", a converted farmhouse surrounded by olive trees in the Siracusan countryside. Defining Sicily, as any place in the world, is hard since its the result of the mixture between Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards and various others that have visited the island (not always with the best of intentions) and decided to extend their stay. What is easy to say is that the result is a richness and variety of architecture, food, traditions and personalities that is hard to resist.

We work with teachers that have several years of experience in the field. Our expert chef, Salvatore Guarino, and your escorts, Katia and Ronald, make sure you have a great time trying out the best Sicily has to offer. We mix hand-on courses in the kitchen with visits to local cheese producers, wineries and pastry shops. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and entertaining and our guests always go away promising to come back!

- Cookery Holidays in Sicily:

Spend a couple of minutes to find out more and come join us for cookery holidays in Sicily. Keep in mind that while we have set dates for these holidays in Sicily but we can also arrange one at any time of the year for a group of six or more.

Alongside Chef Salvatore Guarino we have designed a cooking course that will combine visits to some of the key places for the food lover, such as the fishing villages and wineries, with unique tasting experiences, such as ricotta calda, and hands on experience in preparing Sicilian dishes using the best of local products.

We have put together a unique mixture of holiday cookery courses, that come in two distinct flavors: tailor made and set-date courses. Tailor made courses are arranged for groups of friends on your favored dates and the program can be personalized to suit your preferences. We can organize from short 3 day courses to longer 8 day courses.

- Tailor made cookery holidays in Sicily:

Short courses (3 or 4 days) can be organized for a minimum of two to a maximum of ten people and can either take place in Palazzo degli Archi (in the historical centre of Ragusa) or in the Masseria degli Ulivi (in the middle of the Siracusan countryside near Noto).

Long courses (5 to 8 days) take place just in the Masseria degli Ulivi and can be organized for a minimum of six to a maximum of ten people. Prices vary accordingly, please fill in the booking form so that we can provide you with a quote.

Set date 8-day long cookery holidays in Sicily - you can also join our set-date courses which run four times a year and take place in the Masseria degli Ulivi. Both groups or individuals, can book for participation and the courses run as long as there are at least six people booked. All our courses are taught by the wonderfully talented Chef Salvatore Guarino.

In all cases we combine practical hands-on cooking lessons with trips around the area to see where the products come from and who are the producers. The small size of the groups ensures that we can have an enjoyable and relaxing time and that Salvatore can pay particular attention to each one of the participants. Partners not taking part are more than welcomed as there is a lot to keep them busy during the cooking classes and they can take advantage of all the trips and tasting sessions!

Getting to the South-East of Sicily has never been easier, with new direct routes from the UK and many different connecting flights from hub airports all over Italy and the rest of Europe. In addition, there are the more 'traditional' routes by sea from Calabria, Napoli, Genoa and Malta.

British Airways and Air Malta offer direct flights from Gatwick Airport, in London, to Aeroporto Fontanarossa in Catania. Catania is only about 90 minutes away from Modica or Ragusa. There are two often used ways to get to Sicily by sea. Firstly, you could catch a ferry from Napoli to Palermo, and then travel down to Catania.

Faculty Information:
Our teached is Chef Salvatore Guarino, who was born and lives in Ragusa. For him cooking is a passion and, luckily, also his main occupation. He is able to combine an informal approach to the introduction of Sicilian cooking, based on a solid understanding of the main ingredients and fundamental techniques, alongside an uncompromising attention to detail.

This makes him an ideal teacher to both those that simply require an introduction to cooking as well as those that wish to further their existing knowledge. In all you are sure to come away with a better understanding of Sicilian cooking and a great range of recipes and skills to try out back home.

Other Activities:
Our courses include trips to local wineries, cheese producers, the beautiful baroque cities of Noto, Modica and Ragusa Ibla, as well as the small fishing villages of Marzamemi and Portopalo - right on the southern tip of Sicily.

Facility Information:
The Masseria degli Ulivi, is a grand old farmhouse of the 1800s, lovingly restored and converted to a 3* hotel in the Iblean hills surrounded with olive and carrub trees that have been there for generations. A unique location to explore cities like Noto and Palazzolo Acreide as well as take long walks in the beautiful Sicilian countryside.

The closest airport to Masseria degli Ulivi is Catania International Airport and transfers to and from the airport are included in the price of the course.

- entrance fees for any visits on the course
- accommodation at the Masseria degli Ulivi
- transport to and from Catania Airport.

The price for single occupancy is 1350 GBP (aprx. 2440 USD) while for double occupancy it is 1150 GBP (aprx. 2080 USD). Friends not taking part in the course are welcome - the prices are 950 GBP and 1150 GBP respectively.
