Our Italian language courses are held by professionals drawn from outside the school. All teachers follow a method based on student communication, participation and involvement. Students are continually invited to practice the linguistic knowledge they have acquired, starting from a text they have read, listened to, or watched. However, Italian language lessons are planned by considering different students needs and requests. We proudly offer a highly specialized, professional service which embraces all the individual needs and objectives of its students willing to learn Italian.
Why learn Italian with our school - Our Location In San Giovanni Valdarno, a delightfully small, medieval town in the heart of Tuscany, unstressed by tourist traffic, it's still possible to savor the taste Italian daily life. And because it's only minutes away from Florence, Arezzo, Siena and the Chianti district day trips are a simple, fascinating reality. - Our Professionality We proudly offer a highly specialized, professional service which embraces all the individual needs and objectives of its students willing to learn Italian. - Our Objectives Through its various Italian courses encompassing language, art and gastronomy we seek with both passion and enthusiasm to spread Italian culture. - Our Students Our students continually write of their happy experiences at our school and many continue to return. Their letters, messages and photographs are our gratification. - Our Teaching Our multimedia courses, specifically designed to be flexible, involving and non academic, gently guide students towards their objective in a pleasant, skillful way. - Our Courses Our attractive range of courses covering language, art and gastronomy can be either taken singularly or in any combination to suit students, even up to the day of their arrival. - Our Family We are a small Italian language school managed and run by a typical extended Italian family: we genuinely want to make students feel part of our home and not an anonymous tourist. We honestly trust in our ability to offer a personalized service - in classes, in our extra activities, in the local information. Always. METHOD Teaching aids - Teaching aids and equipment are based on videotapes, cassettes, reading material, recordings of telephone calls, broadcasts and telecasts, or transcriptions of actual conversations, newspaper and magazine articles, as well as grammar frames and exercises. Textbooks are for the first four levels, but sometimes a teacher may decide not to use a text book for a certain class. The school reserves the right to provide students with other teaching materials, if necessary. Activities - Activities in class range from role-playing, short sketches, activities in pairs to free and - if possible - guided conversation. Teaching unit - In-depth work in comprehension and re-elaboration is done by the students, individually and in groups. Teaching units start from reading or listening to a text. At first teachers ask students questions to help them discover what they already know and then introduce key-words and difficult words. When a text is approached for the first time, teachers test comprehension skills and, if necessary, help resolve any difficulties. Grammar - A few aspects of Italian language grammar are singled out during each lesson and illustrated by the texts; teachers introduce grammar step-by-step according to the level of the class. Students are required to work at home on aspects of grammar to consolidate what they have learned in class. Test - The final test is optional and even those students who don't undertake it obtain an Attendance Certificate. COURSES Intensive Italian Language Course This type of course is suited to students who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Italian language and culture through lessons, regional visits, and following individual interests. Super Intensive Italian Language Course This type of instruction is aimed at those who would like to benefit from an even more complete language course. However, because it is not always possible to arrange afternoon lessons according to the school's excursion program some students may prefer to choose the Combined course. Combined Italian Language Course Combined Italian language courses are recommended for students who want to deepen their knowledge of the Italian language and culture. Subjects of special interest or a specific linguistic field can be included in the instruction. Individual instruction times are related to the group lesson timetable and, when possible, can be arranged according to the school program and the students' needs. Individual Italian Language Course These are recommended for people with particular linguistic, cultural, and practical needs, as well as for those who want to examine specific topics. We arrange lessons according to individual students' needs. Special prices are available for those who book 20 or more hours. For specific purposes, such as lessons on translation, architectural Italian and medical Italian, charges are generally higher. However, prior notice is required so that the best specialized teachers can be engaged. In both cases lessons are planned during the first meeting or earlier.
