The methodology we use is based upon one developed by Connie Paladino, the school’s president and founder, during her 35 years of experience in the field of language instruction. At our school, you can learn to communicate in more than thirty languages - from Arabic to Swahili. Thanks to our unique conversational approach, learning is quick and painless. We offer new hope to the person who has tried to master a foreign language and still cannot SPEAK it. Learning is accomplished in much the same way that one acquires a mother tongue - by listening and repeating - not by translating and memorizing. Courses are available at all levels and are personalized to our clients' needs from the traveler to the corporate executive. - Group Instruction Group classes are a fun and cost effective way to learn a foreign language. Group classes at our school are kept very small – only three to seven people per class – to ensure that every participant has an opportunity to practice acquired skills and get personalized attention from the instructor. The emphasis is on communication in the newly acquired language. In addition to learning a new language, you will also learn about the culture and traditions of the countries where the language is used. Currently, group classes are offered in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and German, and are available for students of beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. - Semi-private Instruction Semi-private instruction is ideal for friends, spouses or business partners who have similar needs in learning a language. Semi-private courses are customized to the needs of students, and allow a great degree of scheduling flexibility. We recommend that you schedule lessons for at least twice or three times a week for sessions of 11/2 – 2 hours. Semi-private classes are offered in more than thirty languages for students of all levels of proficiency. For your convenience, semi-private lessons can be scheduled at your home or office. - Private Instruction Private instruction offers a great variety of advantages in learning foreign languages. Private classes are completely customized to the student’s needs and schedule. For your convenience, courses can be arranged at your home or office. Private lessons incorporate the vocabulary pertaining to the student’s professional field or area of interest, which will be assessed during the first meeting with the instructor. Private instruction courses are available in more than thirty languages for students of all levels of proficiency. Programs and Methodology We offer a unique, natural and conversational approach to language learning for a variety of students ranging from the traveler to the corporate executive. Courses are customized and personalized according to the needs of the students. Quality instruction, hands-on student participation, and a deep sense of caring on the part of the entire staff has become the school’s trademark. Our school prides itself on its small class size. We provide individualized attention to our students in seven levels of study: beginning (levels 1 & 2), intermediate (levels 3 & 4), advanced (levels 5 & 6), and post advanced (level 7) . There is a maximum of only 12 students per class with an average of 8-10. A placement test is administered to all incoming students to determine their level of English proficiency in four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The exam consists of multiple-choice questions, writing samples and an oral interview. It is administered at the school every Monday at 9:00. Afterwards, the Testing Coordinator assesses scores and places students in their appropriate class levels. Our programs are taught at a quick and exciting pace by a team of teachers. Students are provided with a loose-leaf binder for their school materials and workbooks. An exit exam is administered to all students to determine their progress. Those who attend at least 80% of their classes are awarded a Certificate of Achievement. The minimum age to study at our school is 16 years, except during the winter and summer school breaks when we accept students between the ages of 12 and 15. With the exception of our TOEFL Prep course, which has a specific start date (see school calendar), courses begin every Monday.
