Set in our magnificent converted barn in the Dordogne - the gastronomic heart of France - you'll be cooking some great dishes on your cooking vacation from France and around the world. We'll cook some great classic and contemporary dishes from around the world in practical hands-on style.

If you have ever wanted to cook and present dishes like the professionals and television chefs, you will be able to learn how on your summer cooking course in France. If you enjoy cooking among friends and like-minded people in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, then come and learn to cook with us, where you'll feel right at home.

So, a summer cooking course in France rather than a formal cookery school, at school you will learn to cook with techniques you can later use to simplify your busy home life, and impress family and friends. Throughout your summer cooking course, using fresh local ingredients, you will be preparing, cooking and, most important this - eating local, Mediterranean and 'Pacific rim' cuisine.

You will learn to cook pastries, breads and soups; learn how to select and prepare the best fish and sea food; butcher common joints of meat; learn to cook classic French and Italian sauces, and construct modern dressings; discover the art of professional contemporary food presentation.

On your summer cooking course in France we will introduce you to ways of cooking exciting and varied vegetarian food (and we're not talking 'nut roasts' here!), and rediscover those great British childhood favorites like Stew and Dumplings, Fish 'n Chips, Bread and Butter Pudding and Spotted Dick. Learn to cook French food in France. Learn to cook on a barbecue without incinerating food, family and friends.

A great Christmas gift idea - a Christmas cooking course in France. Christmas cooking course will give you a taste of a typical Christmas in France - and it has nothing to do with turkey! Actually, it's seafood and shellfish that are often on the French Christmas menu, together with duck, goose, venison and wild boar. What is more, it's Christmas Eve when the big meal is consumed and the Christmas gifts are opened.

With its mild climate (locals have been known to eat Christmas dinner outdoors) and beautiful rolling scenery, quiet roads and few tourists, the Dordogne is a very lovely and tranquil place in which to spend Christmas. As a bonus, the festive season is much less commercialized here than in the UK, but the area is still bedecked with Christmas trees and decorations, and at the entrance to every village the roads are festooned with baubles, tinsel, ribbons and little parcels wrapped in gorgeous Christmas colors.

If you're looking for a cooking vacation in France you've come to the right place: you'll learn by using tried and tested hands-on techniques honed in busy restaurant kitchens, but adapted to the way you cook at home. And you won't be punished for every mistake either - just patient guidance and jovial encouragement by an experienced friendly chef. So, if you enjoy cooking among friendly like-minded people in a warm relaxed fun atmosphere, come and learn to cook with us because you'll quickly feel very much at home.

There'll be organized visits to bustling open-air markets, the ancient honey-colored towns and villages of this perfect region and of course, wine caves, local bread makers, distilleries and the oldest water-powered walnut oil mill in France!

There are contemporary semi-professional stainless steel gas cookers and hobs, stainless steel sinks and modern units and worktops. The kitchen is spacious with well planned demonstration and hands-on preparation areas.

And while you learn to cook, you will be staying in our magnificent, comfortable and spacious recently converted barn, which is centrally-heated throughout. The four large bedrooms are either twins or doubles and all open independently onto the sunny courtyard.

The impressive kitchen and lounge area are upstairs under the stupendous vaulted ceiling. Or, if you have your own self catering accommodation nearby, just come and learn to cook. Your non-cooking family or partner, are also welcome to stay with us at reduced rates.
