With our school you can study Spanish at the heart of the white city of Sucre - Bolivia. It is an excellent program for those who wish to quickly develop a working knowledge of Spanish and also learn something of the culture and customs of these fascinating Andean countries. One of the important features of the Academia experience is that, unlike other study abroad programs which require some degree of fluency on the part of the student, students with little or no Spanish may enroll and study for as long as time permits.
Our excellent testing program allows placement of students in classes at their exact level, and weekly evaluations make it possible to continue to move students through their weekly classes in such a way that they are continually challenged but not frustrated by being slightly ahead or slightly behind their classmates.
The number of participants in any class is never over four, and is frequently less. Students move in and out of classes on a weekly basis depending on their ability and their motivation for outside study. Our teachers are all native Spanish speakers, who have received extensive training in teaching their language to adult learners.
The Academia has prepared students since 1999 with the following objective: "We are a professional institution, highly qualified and a leader in Spanish education for foreigners. Our mission is to provide the best possible service, seeking to ensure students total satisfaction with quality study materials."
* COURSE PHILOSOPHY: Every student has the best insight to their own particular educational needs. Upon arrival a placement test is taken and an evaluation made by student and faculty. Results of the test are taken into consideration along with time available to create the most profitable customized program.
* LEVELS: Classes are based on nine levels of proficiency (American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages - ACTFL) lower beginner, medium beginner, high beginner, lower intermediate, medium intermediate, high intermediate, advanced, high advanced and superior. Students must pass tests at each level in order to move on to the next.
For colleges and universities our courses and credits are essentially the same as those granted in most Universities around the world. The amount of credit is based upon the number of contact hours, lectures, laboratory work, reading assignments, and required papers. All exams and papers for each student are forwarded to the student college or university at the end of the student's stay in Sucre.
* CLASSES: Classes are 60 minutes in length. Students study for 4 hours a day and may enroll for as many weeks as they wish. To ensure that students to make sufficient progress and derive maximum benefit from the course we recommend the following minimal duration: beginner (2-12 weeks), intermediate (4-8 weeks) and advanced (2-8 weeks). Students enrolled in courses lasting for more than 3 months will require a visa from the Bolivian government which the Academia can easily help them obtain.
* LANGUAGE PROGRAM: Maximum number of students per class: 4 students. Groups are organized in a way that they will always consist of students possessing the same level of Spanish. At the conclusion of your studies, you will receive a certificate of completion.
Average number of students per class: 2 students. Method: Based on the 4 language skills: listening, grammar, oral and written comprehension. No English should be used in class.
Faculty Information:
Experienced native teachers. They refresh their teaching skills, receiving special courses every year from our International Academic Director in Spain and Ecuador. The Academia chooses the teachers for their ability to listen their enthusiasm, kindness and patience, but most of all for their love of teaching Spanish to foreign students. All of them know how to motivate, develop and support the students curiosity and interest in the Spanish Language, Bolivian culture and social life. They also know that the learning process continues outside the classroom.
Other Activities:
As part of the language program, we offer 2-3 organized activities every week. In addition, students will find a daily schedule of cultural events in Sucre and surrounding areas, locations of theaters, museums, festivals as well as tickets prices are available. Activities include: Visits to local areas of interest, dance classes, cooking classes, parties & fiestas, Spanish languages videos & movies, seminars & discussion groups.
Please Note: You may need to pay "out-of-pocket" expenses (bus fare, entrance fees, etc.). Weekend trips: not actually organized by the school. (But they can assist you with your arrangements on-site).
Facility Information:
Our school is located in the heart of Sucre, one block away from the city center (Plaza Central 25 de Mayo) within close proximity to virtually everything of interest within the city. Classes are held in a 2 story building with seven classrooms, kitchen, a salon (for videos, etc.) story building with colonial balconies, an interior patio, a small area to get sun tan, entertainment room, and a beautiful cafeteria "El Café Quito".
Capacity 40 students/day and participants are about 50% from Europe and 50% from North America. In addition, we offer 2-3 organized activities every week (see below). Our Spanish program doesn't merely constitute a language course, but an immersion into Bolivian culture and life.

Every weekly rate cost 265 dollars and include:
- 20 hours of Spanish classes from Monday-Friday;
- homestay with 2 meals/day;

- mail service;
- money exchange, safety box, luggage storage;
- counseling, grades and evaluations;
