Our school was one of the first schools of Italian in Italy and in Tuscany. Both schools are in the town center, close to train and bus stations. Pisa is 12 km from the sea and the beach can be easily reached by bicycle or bus, while Viareggio is right by the sea and the school is about 150 meters from the beach.

The high level of teaching in our courses is guaranteed by the training and experience of our teachers. Our school is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, the Swedish CSN, by the city of Hamburg for educational holidays and is member of ASILS, the Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language that guarantees the quality of the courses.

The schools is not only a place where one can follow entertaining and high quality lessons, but also a place where students can enjoy pleasant moments of socialization.

COURSES

Italian language school. Italian Institute for Italian language and culture courses and programs offer Italian language courses, Italian culture courses, cooking courses.

Holiday course “GV”
Mainly oriented towards developing conversational skills, without neglecting Italian culture and civilization. The course is held in Viareggio.

General course “GA”
Combines the teaching of grammatical and structural aspects of the language with activities for the development of communicative competences. The course also provides elements of Italian culture.

Intensive course “GB”
Essentially covers the same syllabus as the General course but with a larger number of hours. To the 4 hours of lessons during the morning are added 2 hours of group conversation in the afternoon.

Grammar course “GC”
Covers exclusively a grammar syllabus and is intended for people who already speak Italian but need further study of the morpho-syntactical structures for the development of a monitor of the language.

Conversation course “GD”
Designed for people intending to put the language to practical use.
Individualized, for those who need to make maximum use of the short periods available, with a personalized syllabus according to specific work and study needs. The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.

Individual courses with lunch with the teacher
Take place in the same way as the other individual courses except that each day two hours of conversation are held at a restaurant with a special agreement with the school. The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.

Mini-intensive courses
This course is suitable for those who wish to complete a specific course of study in short time, but prefer to occupy the afternoon with only one hour of lesson. Like the super-intensive course, they are group lessons combined with individual lessons, during which it is possible to arrange with the teacher to deal with subjects of interest to the student for his/her profession or studies, e.g. preparation for the CILS exam, the PLIDA or a university exam in Italian. The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.

Super-intensive courses
This course is particularly suited to those who wish to complete a specific program of studies in a short time. The group lessons help to develop general language skills, while the individual lessons can deal with subjects of particular interest to the student, such a topic relating to profession or for preparation for the CILS, PLIDA exams or a university exam in Italian. The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.

Preparatory course for the CILS exam
This course is specifically oriented to preparation for the CILS examination of the University for Foreigners of Siena. During the individual lessons there are practice sessions using CILS tests. Areas in which the student is deficient are studied more deeply.
Course “C1” – 25 lessons a week (20 group hours and 5 individual hours a week) 5 lessons a day.

SPECIAL COURSES

Cookery course “Cook”
The aim is the practical learning of the basic principles of Italian cooking such as pasta, stews, bread and pizza. The course is also a pleasant opportunity for socialization and is concluded with a dinner consisting of what has been cooked and with wine added.
This course must be attended together with a language course. The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.


Course in History of Art “SAP”
This course is directed to people who are interested in Art History and want basic information on monuments and works of Art in Tuscany. It is theoretical and entails the use of slides. This course is not suited to absolute beginners.The course is held in Pisa and Viareggio.

Wine-tasting course
A course of a mainly practical nature aimed at providing basic concepts and information regarding the main Tuscan and Italian wines and their combination with the main dishes of Italian cuisine. This course must be attended together with a language course.

Courses of preparation for the admission exams for Italian universities. Preparatory courses for admission to the faculties of Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, Biology and Chemistry. These courses of long duration (2-6 months) include lessons in Italian language and lessons on scientific subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics). Language Certificates

A certificate of attendance is issued to each participant at the end of the course followed. For those who have attended a course lasting at least 4 weeks it will be possible to take an optional exam, both written and oral, to obtain our certificate, containing an end-of-course evaluation (exam fee: Euro 25).

Our school is also a qualified center for preparation for the following exams:
- CILS certificate of the University for Foreigners, Siena.
- Plida certificate of the Dante Alighieri Society.

Faculty Information:
This course of a general character consists essentially of two parts: the first part is concerned mainly with study and analysis of the grammatical and structural aspects of the language.

The first teacher-to-class phase is followed by consolidation exercises done both in class and at home; the second part consists in activities that develop communicative competence and writing skills. Through games, role play, readings, discussions, listening to dialogs, songs, watching films, short compositions and dictations, our mother tongue teachers, qualified in the teaching of Italian to foreigners, guide the students towards an improvement in their global knowledge of the language.

Elements of Italian culture and civilization are always subjects of conversation and comparison during the lessons in class and, according to the level of knowledge the students have of the Italian language, the subjects discussed will range from simple (e.g. the sequence of dishes of a typical Italian meal) to more complex (e.g. current affairs in Italy). In this phase of the lesson, in groups with the necessary competence, the reading of newspapers and extracts from literature is included.

The course is held in Pisa and consists of 20 lessons a week, 4 lessons a day, each of 55 minutes, from 09.00 to 13.00.

Our accommodation is carefully selected from what is available on the market. Generally, given our policy of keeping down costs, our accommodation is of medium standard, but such as to guarantee our students a pleasant stay. A higher standard of accommodation can be provided on request.
