I am very excited to be able to offer a new program this year. We have exciting news for the program this year. We will be moving to Dubois, Wyoming to a working ranch for the workshop. The dates are June 10-16.
The beginning part of the week will prepare the student for solo work for later in the week. The first part of the week will cover color, form and composition. We will have sculpture as well as pastel in the first of part of the week. The student workshop will overlap the adult professional workshop 2 days to give the students the opportunity to meet 100 adult artists and have a mentor assigned for them that they will shadow for 2 day to do what the adult artist does.
Faculty Information:
We will have our usual 2 instructors for you to work with, Wanda Mumm and Mark Kelso, for the first part of the week. Sculpture materials and pastels will be available for students as part of their tuition. Drawing and painting supplies will need to be brought to the workshop by each student.
Other Activities:
The program will also be changing in many ways. New this year will be a mentor program where each student will have an adult mentor assigned to him or her the last 2 days of the week. This mentor will be the student's contact for 3 months to share information and art with for additional guidance.
Facility Information:
The student's fees will cover all lodging and instruction and most meals with a couple meals not included. The ranch that will serve as our base is a working ranch and each student will be required to do work detail to help with the ranches operations during our time there. A sign-up list of jobs will be made available ahead of the arrival date. The scenery is wonderful and the addition of animals and work tack will add to the opportunities for subjects for us to work with.
Notes:
SKB Foundation will again be our sponsor for the scholarships. The scholarship value will be $1250 this year. The students will be responsible for paying the balance after the SKB scholarship of $250 and will also need to arrange for transportation to the Dubois, Wyoming ranch location.
Two-college credit will be available again this year. Anyone attending previously will be able to apply for the credit again as the course changes names every year. MSU Northern will be our granting Institution again this year; the credit is transferable as elective credit. The University does charge a fee of $100-$125 for the 2 credits.
