Stormy seas, fall skies and Superior’s mighty shores are some of the most dramatic and powerful landscapes a photographer could dream of. Capturing them on film is a passion of artist Rob Stimpson. This workshop, timed to take perfect advantage of Superior’s surely moods and spectacular scenery, will appeal to the person who knows the workings of their camera and wants to create, not just take, photographs. There will be plenty of time for shooting, critiquing and sharing techniques.
The workshop is based from our site and lodge, located right on the shore of Lake Superior. Our front room affords “Superior” vistas and is the perfect place for discussions and evening relaxation. “Rock Island” as our site is known locally, is becoming a popular spot for storm watchers to gather as Superiors fury crashes upon our rocky shores. During the course of the workshop we may have the opportunity to take to the waters by canoe or kayak, travel to other local photographic hotspots (such as Old Woman Bay or the Badlands) or hike some of Superior rugged headlands as weather and interest permit.
