Yoga has become very popular in the last couple of years and can be started at any age. The postures include standing, sitting, twisting, lying, upside-down. They are structured and categorized to enable beginners to progress from basic postures to the more advanced as they gain flexibility and strength. It aligns bones and muscles and, along with correct breathing, posture starts to improve, tension is released and the mind relaxes and becomes clear. It balances the nervous system, improves muscle tone and helps control arthritis, asthma, back pain and blood pressure.
The sessions will take place in the vast attic with its forest of massive roof beams overhead, and warm unglazed terracotta paving underfoot.
The structure of the day:
- 7.00 - 8.00 yoga
- 8.30 - 9.00 breakfast
- 12.30 - 1.30 swim or continue artwork
- 1.30 lunch - afternoon free to explore, use
- 6.00 - 7.30 yoga
- 8.00 dinner.
The shape of the week:
- Arrive by Saturday lunch-afternoon (pickup from airport) - evening yoga class, general introduction, dinner
- Sunday to Wednesday as above
- Wednesday evening free - no dinner provided - a chance to eat out with transport provided
- Friday evening - final dinner
- Saturday - breakfast, depart by 1.00 (drop-off to airport).
Le Cerf Gris is a restored Maison de Maitre at the edge of Moux, a village in the Corbieres wine region of the Languedoc in south west France. Everything in the house is on a large scale, with high ceilings and marble fireplaces in most rooms. Upstairs there are six bedrooms and three bathrooms (one en suite). Downstairs there is one bedroom (with en suite bathroom), a comfortable book-filled sitting room, an office and a downstairs loo, as well as the big (45'x20') open-plan kitchen, dining room, living room.
The bathrooms and kitchen feature our own hand painted tiles, and there are many examples of our mosaic designs both inside and out. The kitchen has lots of worktop space, a dishwasher and a serious cooker, with a large table by the windows for informal meals, or chatting to the cook. The other side of the room has a dining table for up to 16, and sofas by the raised fireplace. Double doors open to the west-facing terrace, overlooking the pool - a favorite spot for aperitifs.
