Born in Australia, I settled in Jerusalem more than two decades ago. I live in this remarkable city with Riza and our two teenage boys, Nadav and Eyal. I have trained and worked in both the health and horticultural sciences. I offer walking tours of the City of Jerusalem as well as all over Israel.

Below is a range of sample tours all of which can be adapted to different areas:

Sample Tour 1: The Engaging Storytelling tour of the Israel Museum.

A day at the Israel Museum is a rich and fascinating encounter with a unique world of artifacts and objects that deepen and enrich the understanding of the land and its past. As a specialist guide in fields of art, Hava Schwartz will weave together the diverse cultural and historical episodes into a colorful picture of the country, its people and cultures. We will walk through the archaeological findings, look at the Dead Sea scrolls and model of Second Temple Jerusalem, view religious art from ancient churches and mosques. Get a taste of traditional Jewish life through Jewish art and architecture of synagogues of lost communities, and look at the colorful expressions of local identity at the gallery of Israeli art.

Sample Tour 2: The Dawn tour of Jerusalem .

A tour of Jerusalem in the early morning hours walking through the four quarters of the Old City and with a focus on early morning visits to the Temple Mount - when accessible , Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Option of return for hotel breakfast or a great hummus in the market! This tour provides you with an opportunity to see the city of Jerusalem waking up at dawn, with its beautiful light, cooler, and quieter conditions.

Sample Tour 3: The People in the Neighborhood tour of Old City Jerusalem.

Besides the millions of visitors from around the world that come each year to connect to the holy sites, who are the locals that get to live so close to the center of the monotheistic world? What defines their various identities, where have they succeeded as communities, and what challenges do they face dwelling in such an intense place? On this half-day walking tour, we'll visit each of the four quarters of the old city, looking beyond the tourist sites, in order to "meet" the residents and learn about their relationships to place and each other within the walls. A full day option could include visits to the major holy sites in each quarter, as well as face-to-face meetings with residents for intimate conversations.

Sample Tour 4: The Fight over Jerusalem tour of the City at the Center of the World.

Jerusalem is in the news all the time, but what do we really know about the fights that take place inside the Old City? What does the word "Internationalization" mean and who is behind it? Why do Christians fight each other much more than Muslims fight Jews, and which disputes affect the world's agenda? All of that, and much more, will open your eyes to the legal aspects of the Holy places, as well as the Status of Jerusalem internationally. Sites to be visited include the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Western Wall, Temple Mount, and Mount Zion.

Daily Guide fee for walking tours of Jerusalem.
