1 Day Papermaking at Arte Papel Vista Hermosa and visiting Centro de Artes de San Agustin, Etla, Oaxaca, a beautiful renovated textile mill under the direction of Francisco Toledo. 5 days Monotype Printing at Taller Tamayo with Glen Rogers as your teacher and master printer to guide you through the process. 2 days of excursions outside the city - A visit to Monte Albán - Zapotec pyramid. A visit to Artesan villages including textiles, black pottery and alebrijes woodcarvings.

Appropriate for beginners to advanced, for artists as well as non-artists wanting to pursue their creativity.

Faculty Information:
Glen Rogers is an experienced printmaker/master printer with an MFA from San Jose State Univ. and an MA from San Francisco State Univ. She has taught printmaking at San Francisco State, Citadel Print Center in San Jose, which she co-founded, and was a California Arts Council Artist in Residence, taking printmaking to the schools for 3 years. As a board member of the San Jose ICA she initiated and organized the Monotype Marathon now in its 15th year. She has done residencies at KALA Institute in Berkeley, Villa Montalvo, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, and the Frans Masereel Print Center in Belgium. She is a long-standing member of California Society of Printmakers.

Glen is an internationally exhibited artist whose work has been shown in the U.S., England, Australia, France, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Mexico, and Singapore. As a full-time artist, she splits her time between painting, printmaking, drawing and public sculpture. Permanent collections include San Jose Museum of Art, the Triton Museum, AMD, Adobe, Frans Masareel Print Center, KALA Institute, and many private collections. Her work is featured in The Best of Printmaking, an International Collection.

Other Activities:
There will be three excursions: One to Monte Alban, a Zapotec pyramid, outside the city of Oaxaca and the second will be a trip to visit various villages known for black pottery, textiles, alejibres/colorfully carved wood animals, etc. and the third will be to the village of Etla where we will learn handmade papermaking with each student pulling 3 or 4 sheets.

Facility Information:
Taller Rufino Tamayo is a renowned printmaking workshop in Oaxaca teaching adults and children. Studios for etching, lithography, drawing, and ceramics. Large worktables under the open air portico gives everyone plenty of space to work. Friendly staff. Located in Centro Historico within walking distance.
