In 2009 you may dock your boat and visit the eat@galianoinn restaurant, use the spa, visit the wine shop or stay the night in one of the ocean front rooms or villas. Explore the beautiful area and in the summer months having a wood fired Pizza on the patio for lunch.
Lots for you to explore once you step off your boat. Our spa resort is a natural setting for family or corporate retreats in our garden meeting room.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
The Inn has been operating as a place to stay since the 1940’s, with an immense amount of Island history in its operation. Ten years ago, a couple, who loved staying at the old lodge, fell in love with it but worried that it had “had its day”…so they decided to take over the old lodge and completely renew it, plus they built a new building for guests. The “new” resort was redesigned, with a glass atrium restaurant, outdoor wood-burning oven patio dining, a full service spa with ocean views, and spectacular, intimate gardens. The property is now a shared ownership resort, with owners returning regularly to their “island home”.
2. What is your company's mission?
To create a spectacular West Coast experience for our guests on a beautiful and unspoiled island paradise, while enjoying the amenities of a very special boutique hotel resort, with superb and friendly customer service, and a commitment to wherever possible: ecologically sound practices, natural products and local experience.
3. What does your company specialize in?
High quality Boutique resort stay, with a focus on British Columbia’s West Coast experience in everything from the extensive art collection to the B.C. ingredients and treatments in our Spa, and the focus on West Coast foods in our restaurants.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
The owner and designer of the resort is Mel Gibb, with his wife Conny Nordin (pictured in the photograph with the Inn greeter, “Bogart”). Mel Gibb is a builder who has designed buildings from shopping centers to this boutique hotel. He has also owned steel manufacturing plants, mineral operations and restaurants, but Galiano is now home, and creating the Inn’s spa experience and its beautiful Flores del Iris Gardens have become his latest passions. Conny is most often described as “the Inn Manager”, creating the guest experience in our rooms, spa, restaurant, as well as connecting guests to the myriad of outdoor and artistic experiences Galiano Island has to offer.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our Romance Package…it is available year-round and is a perfect full experience: two nights in an oceanfront fireplace room, with $200 in spa credits, $50 in dining credits, breakfast for two each day, champagne and chocolates upon check-in: a perfect getaway at a very special price, just $699 Cdn.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
“A day at the M12506 is worth a week anywhere else”. (We have received that from many guests actually).
