M15602 was started in 2005 to provide dogsledding trips for families and small groups in the Almagiun Highlands region of Ontario, just west of Algonquin Park. Our main focus is on daytrips and half day trips, though a wide variety of programs are offered including group rides, multiday expeditions, cabin trips, night runs and skijoring trips(dog powered skiing!). M15602 is a small company and we specialise in small groups(1-6 persons). We feel that a smaller group provides a more intimate and enriching experience for everyone involved. Each trip begins with a detailed instruction session, then we are out on the trail, enjoying breathtaking winter scenery and a healthy dose of fresh air. These trips all require some degree of physical fitness, but almost anyone can learn to handle a dog team with a little effort and determination. Children are welcome on half day trips and rides as part of a group, but they must ride with an adult. Adult clients are given the options of driving their own team or sharing with another group member. Actual time on the trail runs from 2-6 hours depending on the choice of trip. Please book early and take advantage of our early booking (4weeks or more in advance) and mid-week (monday to friday) discounts.
M15602 is located outside of the village of Sundridge Ontario. This region, which is becoming known as the Almagiun Highlands region, is just north of Muskoka and is accessed by highway 11. Sundridge is approximately 3 1/2 hours north of Toronto by car and is also serviced by bus or train (train stops at South River On.) by Ontario Northland. The Norhtern Airport Service also makes daily trips to and from Pearson International Airport. Accomodation (hotels, bed and breakfasts) is available in Sundridge or on of the other nearby villages such as South River, Burks Falls or Magnetawan. The closest city is North Bay, approximately 45 minutes noerth by car. The Almaguin Highlands region is famous for snow! We often have an abundance of snow even when other regions have none. Be sure to call or e-mail to find out the latest conditions. Our snow usually comes by christmas and stays till the end of March.
Ed Schmidt is the owner and operator of M15602. He is a lifelong resident of the region and has over ten years experience in running dogs and guiding dogsled trips. Currently Ed has a small kennel of around 20 Siberian and mixed breed huskies. Come and meet them all this winter by booking a trip with M15602!
