What’s different about our tours: Our tours are small groups only - maximum 8 people. This gives them a more intimate feeling and allows us to stay at smaller out of the way places (such as the charming farmhouses and cozy B&B's). It also allows for us to participate in local activities and hands-on experiences that could not work with larger, more traditional tour groups. We believe our guests enjoy travel when it’s on a more personal level. A special evening of wine drinking with a table full of colorful locals or that moment when you feel like you're the first tourist to explore a beautiful valley or hill town. You'll get to meet the locals on many of our destinations. M15922 doesn't shy away from many of the popular sites but our tours offer up a generous portion of those smaller "off the beaten path" places.
Hand-crafted not pre-packaged: Too many tour companies just resell packages or create copy-cat itineraries based on existing tours without putting any thought or research to try make a better tour. We enjoy creating our tours from scratch: investigating and handpicking all sights, restaurants, hosts and hidden corners of these countries to explore. Every year we find new things to incorporated into future tours.
Group Size: We strive to offer unique and quality tours for small groups. On some tours we offer set dates, but most are run 'upon request' so you can pick the right time for your tour group. Minimum tour size is 2 persons. We love to create custom tours that fit your wishes, time frame and budget From time to time we will have some open spots on our tours!
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
Since 2005. I started my business after spending 6 years traveling the countries of former Yugoslavia and falling in love with them.
2. What is your company's mission?
To give clients a more personalized travel experience while giving them good value for their money.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Providing unique itineraries through out the Balkans, Central & Eastern Europe
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Andrew Villone. I backpacked around eastern and central Europe for six months and really fell in love with many of those places, especially Slovenia. When I got back home I helped arrange travels for friends and family and saw how much they loved these countries too. So I decided to take my organizational skills, passion for traveling and independent spirit, and I got to work creating unique tours that were not offered by mainstream tourism companies.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
The Grand Tour of Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia. It showcases both popular and smaller, off the beaten path destinations in three different countries and is priced competitively.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
The first time I ever did a custom tour was for a group from Australia. It was a 4 week tour and I had never done anything nearly that long. I worried about how things would go, spending a month with people you've never met could get tricky. But my guests gave me a big hug at the airport and about a week into our tour we were already discussing our next tour in Europe together. That's when I knew I was in the right line of work.
