Questions and Answers
Private sightseeing tours of Holland and Belgium cities, like Amsterdam, The Hague, Delft, Bruges, Brussels and rural historic villages.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

After my retirement, I started in 2006 offering sightseeing tours to individuals from English speaking countries.

2. What is your company's mission?

My mission is to show my guests my beautiful country and to tell them everything about the secrets of living below sea level.

3. What does your company specialize in?

I specialize in 8 hour sightseeing tours with private demonstrations at local markets and factories. Customizing itineraries to the guests preferences is one of my main services.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

My name is Raymond Vandenburg (1947). I live close to the airport Schiphol in a suburb of Amsterdam. I started my company Private Holland Tours with the aim to show foreigners the beauty and variety of my country. Because of my job (started as a newspaper reporter and ended as an editor in chief) I've worked with many people and travelled a lot throughout Holland. I designed and built my own website Private Holland Tours to attract individuals, couples and families from mainly USA and Canada to my Holland and Belgium itineraries and self-made videos.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

My 'Zaanse Schans and Marken Private Tour' is decidedly a favorite #1 among my guests. This wonderful tour covers the magnificent area of Dutch polder landscape north of Amsterdam, marked by windmills, lakes, dikes and ditches. Visits at quaint historic fishing villages with remarkable wooden cottages. Most of the driving is on small scenic country roads, where tour busses are not allowed. The area is called 'Waterland' and is situated 8-12 feet below sealevel.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

This is a part of a testimonal from a US family of eight: "When we left Amsterdam and went on tours of other cities, there were several comments from my family that wished that Ray was there to give his personal tour instead of having to go on the cruise excursion."

Wynand is an excellent guide with a good mixture of historical and cultural knowledge. The sights we saw were customized according to my wishes, but Wynand also guided me to spots I would not have thought of. Because of his scheduling, I was able to see an incredible amount in one day. We also had a wonderful lunch of local food. Thank you Wynand!

Dear Wynand,

Just a small note to thank you for a very nice day sightseeing in Amsterdam. You were most helpful & accommodating. What I liked best was the flexibility which your tour allows, and for any person with a disability it is of utmost importance. I hope to catch up with you on my next trip to Europe & perhaps we could see some other countries?

With best wishes

Our two days with Wynand were the highlight of our trip. We saw the "real" Holland and ate at cafe's which served traditional Dutch food. Wynand is very polite and knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend his tour. My Mom has a difficult time walking and he was sensitive and accommodating to her needs. If (when) I return to Holland I will contact Wynand for another fun tour with a great guide.

4  Elaine Mancini / Fantastic Tour
Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our day with you. From your prompt arrival at our hotel in Amsterdam, through our fantastic tour through your lovely country, and finally our departure in Rotterdam, made the perfect beginning to a wonderful cruise. Thank you again for a wonderful day. I can heartily endorse you and your company to anyone needing a guide in Amsterdam or Rotterdam.

5  Beverly Lauber / Greatly appreciated the tour
Our family greatly appreciated the personalized tour you gave us of Amsterdam and the surrounding area in June. We were very much impressed with your city and all of the sights we experienced in our short stay. We got to see all of the things we wanted to see; windmills, wooden shoes, and the city itself. We have never seen so many bicycles in our life.

We especially enjoyed the Alsmeer Flower auction and the countryside. My daughter and husband especially enjoyed the museums and just walking around ... view more the city. We hope to make it back to that area again in a few years and will definitely look you up and suggest your name to anyone looking for a tour guide in that part of the world.

Thank you again for the personal tour and also for getting us to and from the airport on time.

6  Joy & Pete Raskis / We will recommend you...
Dear Wynand,

We would like to let you know that we were so pleased with the excellent service and tour we received. You are to be congratulated for the good value and good planning you provided us.

It was wonderful knowing that you would pick us up at the port and then continue with the tour before taking us to the Airport Hotel. Realizing that we had limited time, you planned a wonderful tour to the beautiful town of Volendam, where we had delicious pastry and coffee, followed by a ferry ... view more ride to the quaint isle of Marken.

We had a great time dining in the small cafe in Marken. Your knowledge of the area was so helpful. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and loved your beautiful country. It was refreshing to be with such a genuine individual as yourself. We will be back and will recommend you to our friends and family.

Best regards,
Pete and Joy Raskis,
