We specialize in private customized tours and safaris from Cape Town, South Africa. Our tours are aimed at giving a personalized experience of the wonderful natural beauty of Cape Town and the Western cape. We use very comfortable air conditioned vehicles for transport. Whoever books the tour has exclusive use of the vehicle and qualified guide. The vehicles are registered for tourist passengers and carry passenger and public liability insurance.
Our guides are qualified field and cultural guides registered with the Dept Of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT). We are members of Cape Town Tourism and Kevin is a member of the Cape Town Tour Guides Association.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
The business started operating in 2006 after the owner identified a need in Cape Town for a tour company to provide more personalised/customised tours for couples, families and small groups that didn’t want to join bus or scheduled tours.
2. What is your company's mission?
To provide a wonderful and memorable experience of Cape Town and South Africa, in the hope that our clients become our friends and ambassadors.
3. What does your company specialize in?
On the tour side we specialise in big game safaris, eco tours and guided hikes. On the service side we specialise in giving our clients personal and immediate attention. All our specialist guides are very experienced (all over 40 years old) and are totally client focussed. The business is very much based around sustainable and Responsible Tourism. Our guided hikes are very popular as we are probably only one of very few companies who provide that specialist service in Cape Town.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Kevin Matheson is the founder and owner of the company. Kevin was born and raised on a farm in the Scottish Highlands, where he learned to have a deep love and appreciation of the natural environment. He moved to South Africa in 1984 to work as an engineer, but all his spare time was spent in the wonderful natural areas around South Africa. He decided in 2006 , after completing his level 2 field guide training to start this business so that he can combine his twin loves of nature and hard work and put them to good use.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
The two most popular packages are at opposite sides of the comfort scale and are the 3 day luxury safari and the Cape Of Good Hope guided hike. The 3 day safari is at an exclusive game reserve located about 300 kms from Cape Town and is a truly stunning natural environment. The lodge has a comprehensive conservation program and is very famous for having the only free roaming white lions in Southern Africa. The accommodations there are truly luxurious, so all in all it is a great package. On the opposite side of comfort is the Cape Of Good Hope 2 day hike, which takes in 42 kms of walking the magnificent coastline around one of the worlds iconic landmarks. In the evenings we are the only ones on the reserve, and this is a real attraction for the guests.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
We have been blessed with many truly happy clients who have given us many wonderful compliments in our guestbook. A recent one from an Australian couple was quite special : “As we said in the text our tour exceeded all our expectations one hundred fold and quite spoilt us for anything else. Subsequently our voyage on the QM2, whilst a nice rest, fades into insignificance!” . We were extremely happy to hear that we outshone the QM2 !
