InfoHub supplier since Sep 2008! Base of operations: Australia |
Our founders, Janine and Roger are Wildlife Guides and Researchers. Our experienced team of Wildlife Guides and Koala Researchers are passionate about wildlife and love sharing it with our guests. We work closely with and have a deep respect for the local Indigenous People - the Wathaurong - and though they don't join us on every tour, we act with their consent and teaching. We can arrange special tours with a qualified Aboriginal Guide on request.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
Operating 20 years - since 1993. It started in a sunny backyard in Melbourne. We were talking about what we loved most - the Australian Bush and it's wildlife. We were spending every spare moment out there in nature, and thought "why not take others with us? More people should see what we love so much".
2. What is your company's mission?
To ensure the free-living future of Australia's wildlife IN THE WILD. We aim to achieve this through wildlife tourism – first class, responsible, educational eco-tourism that respects both the natural world and the traveller.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Seeing Australian wildlife in it's natural habitat. Connecting with nature.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Roger Smith and Janine Duffy. Roger is a lifelong conservationist and was an environmental lobbyist, campaigner and a founding member of the East Gippsland Coalition that lobbied successfully for huge National Parks in far eastern Victoria. Janine is a naturalist, wildlife researcher and was an environmental architect.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our one day Koalas & Kangaroos IN THE WILD tour is the most popular, but our 3 day Great Ocean Road and 4 day Wildlife Conservation Journey are catching up fast!
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
That our tour changed the way they saw nature in their home country. This to us is the greatest compliment because it is often long-term and global in its effects. This is the power of travel - we all learn so much from each other.
