Henk is from the Netherlands and has been living in New Zealand for the past 27 years. Together with his partner Bunny and their daughter, Ruby, they operate their charter vessel M18849. M18849 was designed by well-known New Zealand naval architect Alan Mummery to Henk's requirements in 1991.
Prior to sailing, getting a strong foothold in life, Henk travelled and worked in different places in the world (Israel, USA, Latin America, Canada and Europe). During 1980-82 Henk travelled on a motorbike from Alaska to the southern tip of South America. He speaks English, Dutch and has a working knowledge of German and Spanish. For the last 17 years Henk has been skippering M18849 on expeditions to some of the most remote parts of the region mainly in the polar regions, but also on a 3 month expedition on the Fly river penetrating deep into the jungle of Papua new Guinea, please have a look at the captains log for more details.
