1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
12 years. Founded by myself, Jim Louth, after working for several years for a leading UK travel agency and realising that there was a growing demand for pioneering adventure type holidays to destinations which were not already been offered by established operators.
2. What is your company's mission?
M19089 mission is to take our guests to some of the most interesting and unique regions of the world, areas that are not yet on the ever growing tourist trail and that still offer something very special to the experienced traveller.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We escape from the crowds into a world where the tourist is not all powerful, where the experiences are truly authentic, and where you have the opportunity to take yourself just that little bit out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in the real nature of a country. We don’t want to just offer you a taste of the exotic but aim to provide a much more in depth and rewarding experience, taking you to places that an independent traveller would probably never get to see. We travel to remote lands and meet some of the most intriguing and least visited peoples in the world, pushing the boundaries of adventure travel.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
The founder and owner of the company is Jim Louth. Firstly, thanks to his father’s employment with British Rail and the concessions on offer, he explored Europe by train. After leaving school Jim began to travel further afield; Greyhound bus across America, an independent overland trip through Africa and the Trans-Siberian railway all by the time he was 20. A couple of years living and working in New York were followed by a two year stint teaching English in Brazil, plus plenty of travel in between.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Any of our ultra pioneering destinations such as Chad. Here we get truly off the beaten track. It's how travel should be, in its purest form.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
The fact they we receive a huge amount of repeat business, for example on one recent trip to Kurdistan 7 clients out of a group of 8 had all previously travelled with us. It is this level of repeat business which is the greatest compliment.
