M19255 is situated on one of Africa’s great rivers, the Kafue, some 200 kilometers upstream from its confluence with the mighty Zambezi River and 400 kilometers north of the majestic Victoria Falls.
Set in an area of pristine wilderness, M19255 offers a magnificent game and safari experience in the heart of the African bush. The river ensures that there is something for everyone to do. Fishing, bird watching, exploring the channels and islands and game watching are always special on a river like the Kafue.
The Lodge is environmentally-friendly with the architecture of the entire camp and associated buildings designed to blend in and harmonize with the surroundings. Maximum use has been made of existing trees, rocky outcrops and topographical features in its layout and construction, thereby minimizing the impact on the original look and feel of the area. The focal point of the Lodge is the thatched central boma with lounge, dining room and bar facilities overlooking the river.
M19255 is a small exclusive Owner-run lodge, ensuring maximum personalized attention to our guests.
Situated on a high plateau, 1200 meters above sea level, M19255 enjoys an all-year-round moderate climate as a getaway from civilization and the climatic extremes of Europe. The Lodge is accessible in all seasons with good road and air access. Our runway is closed during the peak rainy season, viz. December to March, but road transfers can be easily arranged.
The main camp of M19255 comprises one family house and four luxuriously appointed East African en-suite safari tents set under thatch and placed on raised rosewood platforms overlooking the river. Each unit has a spacious bathroom and unique outdoor shower. They are carefully positioned to ensure privacy, safety and harmony with the surrounding vegetation.
Our Rapids campsite is an area for the more discerning camper looking to “rough it” under African skies without giving up all the "creature comforts" of home. The two private campsites overlook the river and each has its own ablution facilities, washing up area and braai facilities. The Bushcamp is set back from the river and is geared to larger groups of 4x4 enthusiasts. The area is fully grassed under large, shady trees. Firewood is supplied and shared ablution facilities are available. For both the Rapids and Bushcamp campsite, activities and meals can be arranged.
Some call it the green season, some call it the rainy season. It is the time of year when nature comes to life again. When wildlife is everywhere, when the bush is lush and when the sun is always around to bring out the best shades of green. Ask for our special arrangements and discover for yourself why we prefer to call it The Emerald Season.
